Lumix LX100 a Pocket GH4 -- Sony RX beater!

For the size/weight, this has a great deal of appeal.

393grams, fast zoom lens, 4k video (albeit 30fps)
Interface microHDMI, AV Output (PAL / NTSC), USB (AV/USB Multi)

the Micro 4/3 system is really beautiful. I'd be interested in one of these on a gimbal. I have a lumix GX7 and it's stunning at 1080p with the right lens.

I see the CM1, launched together with LX100 yesterday, being even greater.

LX100 has not an appealing weight at 395 grams, for photo Ricoh GR is still the benchmark with 254 grams and bigger APS-C sensor and better fixed lens.
LX100 could beat it for video though.

CM1 is cool, but only 15fps at 4k

LX100 does full 30fps at 4k

Yeah, but aerial 4k interest is so limited that is almost a gimmick

LX100 is another class than RX100 anyway, maybe rather a GH4 beater.

The Ricoh GR is great for stills, agreed best available for the weight - I have one.

However the LX100 is almost equal for stills, but has far superior video options and a fast zoom lens for a small 90 grams extra weight. It also has a stabilised lens that may help.

The LX100 is far superior to the RX100 in all aspects other than a small increase in weight.

LX100 Live video out seems a given from the specs, I'm just unclear if there is a remote shutter trigger capability.

Another class as in 2x times bigger sensor, yes, better, and not excessive heavier only 1/3 more weight 290 vs 393 grams.
But 720 is 30 fps only, a big minus for LX100...

I haven't personally done it yet... but wouldn't the ability to render at 1080p and apply additional stabilization at post and other special effects such as zoom and pans would rock?

I would love a direct side by side comparison to the GH4. For us, less experienced with the camera side of things

Watch EOSHD, they will soon issue such analysis.

I guess the thread title is borrowed from them

Why get an LX100 when you can get a Sony A5100 which weighs the same with the kit power zoom lens and less with certain prime lenses.
It also costs less, has a bigger sensor, has XAVC-S 50mbps video, and clean HDMI output.

Its not in the RX100 class as that is a pocketable camera, The LX100 lens which im sure is amazing just sticks out too much to stick it in your pocket.

Size comparison.

Agree, me too will stay on 5N, nothing new on the market convince me, but I foresee the magic argument will be... 4k !

No way... I have a 2880 monitor at work (not even 4k) and the difference between 1080p and 4k is stunning.
Also in editing, it allows you to crop the image down to 1080p easily.
4k is the wave of the future.

Sign me up for a LX100, I might even get rid of my Lumix GX7

As I read it, it will capture 100MBs 4k video like the GH4. Quality glass built in down to F1.7

This will be THE camera for AP
