If you want to be able to reverse the motor from the transmitter as it is being used, like for a car, you need an ESC that has a reversing capability and a TX that will take advantage of that.

Otherwise change any two of the three motor leads and the motor will run in the opposite direction.

Danger! One of the other posters mention that you should "..Swap the positive and negative.." leads and you don't want to swap the two negative and positive leads that connect the ESC to the battery. That will be instant death for the ESC!

The three motor leads on the other end of the ESC are the wires where you want to swap two of the three. Those do not have a polarity, there is no negative or positive leads on the motor end even though the wires may include red and black ones that look the same at the two on the battery end.

There is no positive or negative wire between a brushless motor and it's controller. The wires carry the same signal, 120degrees delayed in time. See pictures below.
And NEVER EVER swap the battery wires to reverse rotation, will coast you your controller.

Mr. Dubel is thinking of the 3 colors of the motor leads. Red , Black & the other colored wire of the 3.
