Baco-Liner Build Plans, help and advice.

Hi Guys,

After a lot of excellent work from JochenK, It is a pleasure to publish the Baco-Liner Cyclogyro build plans, and a short Noddy guide to the build sequence. I will update this post tomorrow with pics of the original.
The design has been simplified for lightness and ease of construction, it can be built with only Balsa if you prefer or have no access to Depron.
The structure could be converted to stick type, with longerons and frames/formers, what ever you want, just stick to the outline, dimensions, power requirement and the CoG position, you choose to suit your needs.
It will scale Up, but maybe not down, you are on your own with that.
all the original information is here:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1125450
I will be happy to help with questions if anyone gets stuck, good luck, happy Cyclogyrating and stick up some pics if you can. Cheers,

Regards to All, Al

Hi Rich,

I used an OK C3536 1450kv from HK, it weighs 107g, rated at 400W, with a 40A esc+ bec, drives a 10x6 on 2 lipos or 9x6 on 3 lipos. They rate same as a Axi 2814/12 . I have a 9x3.8 APCsf running on 3 lipos.
Here's the rough drawings in pic format untill your pc is 100%,
They are INFO ONLY the .pdf files are correct.
Did you try right clicking the link 'Fuse-plan-A1.pdf' or the box with the 'X ed' out picture ? Cheers,

regards Al

Basic handling and flying technique notes.

Hi Guys,

"Forewarned is fore armed" as they say, so here is a wee heads up on what to expect in the flying and handling dept.

1. I use 40% expo for both rudder and elevator.

2. Rudder and elevator travel 30 deg a side.

3. Increasing power increases Rate of Climb.

4. Using elevator to change pitch attitude changes the speed.

5. There is a large change in rudder position for straight flight with change of power, Torque effect is noticable.

6. Make landing approach with some power to controll rate of descent.

7. Turns will tighten up into a spiral if not monitored, opposite rudder required to recover if bank gets steep. > 45deg.

8. Power off to zero reduces forward speed and increases vertical speed to a mass = drag condition (free fall) recover by applying power.

These are my reccomendations for your early 'Baco' flying, once you have it sorted you can go your own way, good luck, Cheers,

regards to all, Al

Hi Mike,

Good luck on the loops, if the wind drops and drys out a bit I may have a go myself later.

The recent heavy rain and flood waters have made the telephones and internet a bit iffy at the moment, and we have been maxed out at work with the extra flying to visit our neighbours in the south. Hence my tardy replies and comments to a lot of new great posts on this forum.

Cheers,

Toblerone source located in the United States!

Good news to all USA builders!
This vital bit of material, the Toblerone candy bar has been located at Rite Aide drugstores! Now armed with this essential component, construction has commenced on my Baco-Liner project! Yum yum!
