There will be an award for the best Radian flight over the 4 day event.

Rules are simple:
1350 mah. battery
Run the motor anytime you want
Turnpoints on the honor system
Airframe mods OK but planform must remain the same
Prop/motor/speedcontrol can be changed

Dean, thanks for hosting again. Flaming Aero will be there and we will be defending the Radian X/C distance record.

Sad to report the Siskiyou County Supervisors have elected to ban all RC flying at our field. This comes from a complaint that has nothing to do with our XC activities.
I have been dealing with this for several months with no success so now is the time to let you all no there is no event this year.
I can promise that when a proper field is either purchased or leased the event will return. 2014 for sure but 2013 is too soon and would be unfair for both you and me not knowing for sure.

I just read your post and want you to know how much I appreciate all that you've done over the years to host and promote what is my absolute favorite event. I'm saddened at the news. I'm sure that you're very disappointed as well. I know that you've invested a lot of time and money into your facilities for many diverse types of activities. This must be crushing news.

If there's anything that the members of SVSS can do, please let us know. I know I speak for every Cross Country pilot who's ever attended your event.

Your hosting and your venue are the best ever. I wouldn't have made it this year
but definitely hope to make many more in the future.
I don't know what I can do but will help if I can and am looking forward to whatever the solution is.

I didn't want to post unless 100% sure but I'm at 98% so here we go.

Found a field on the south side of Shelly Road half way between the railroad tracks and the tanks. 80 acres 1/4 mile by 1/2 mile. Wide open ,no trees, surrounding area pasture and hay.

This field has so many positives that if I had a choice between the field and the airport I would choose the field.

Bottom line is plan (98%) for Montague

That is fantastic news. I took a look at the field on Google Earth and it looks to be in a perfect location. I can now breath a sigh of relief knowing we still have a "Montague XC event" in our future!
