Hawker Hunter 70mm EDF with the lot at Hobbyking

Hawker Hunter at Hobbyking
just turned up... I love it!
Retracts, flaps, EPO foam, 6S... a bit weighty 1500g flying, but it's awesome!

I so want one of these... but my field isn't good with tiny wheels.

Got mine yesterday and after a building frenzy I completed her in 2.5 hs.

First impressions:

- Beautyful!!! She seems to be flying at high speed even on my table.
- HD EPS, is not EPO, they call it SEPO (Super EPO) but is EPS, so don't use regular CA.
- The packaging is not the best. One wing tip/aileron and the tailpipe were slightly damaged.
- Is not PNF. Some assembly required. Even you need to cut and set the decals. Not big deal.
- LG already in place and looking gooood.
- Overall paint quality: Very good.
- Lower nose section is 2mm wider than the top. I didn't notice this and ended with a white lip I had to hide with green paint.
- Control horns: No screws. They have strange toothpicks to pierce the foam and need to be secured with epoxy.
- Control horns location no marked. You need to trial fit a couple of times to be sure that the holes are aligned with the hinge line.
- The wings are "removable" after removing 10 screws and a belly hatch.
- Flaps/airbrakes hinges not glued. CA them before anything.

Its a Big Beautyful plane. Sleek fuse, swept wings forecasts a fast beast.
I'll maiden her soon.

Looking good, sucks about the damage though. Mine arrived undamaged but there were some other problems. 1st off the fan unit was in crooked, easy fix, just pulled it out and put some more double sided tape on and reseated it. 2nd was the ESC hold down, one of the plywood blocks the screw goes into had come loose, again no biggy to fix. 3rd is a bit more serious, the front retract spring action doesn't work very smooth, in fact if you compress it too far it hangs up and wont spring back down. I removed the strut from the retract and poked a hex key down the hole it it sprung back out. Good news is there is lots of red grease down that hole so they are well lubricated. If it continues to be a problem I'll have to look into it further. Also the nose gear retract seems to have about 4 times the slop of the mains, if it causes too many problems I'll remove it and see if I can fix the slop. The paint finish is awesome, much better than any of my other ARF foamies, except for 1 small thing, 1 of the yellow wing stripes is crooked, wont really be noticed so doesn't bother me too much

All the Y-harnesses and the series battery connector was a nice find, even the fact that they are deans plugs is good, I'm sick of de-soldering XT-60's off everything to put deans on. I did some taxi tests and the fan sounds nice and smooth, can't wait to get it in the air

She looks really nice.

I am fumbling with the electronics right now. Hopefully she will be ready for tomorrow.

Are you using the 2x3s battery setup or a single 6s?

I got one 2.65Ah 6s.

Maybe you can try this dean to XT adaptor. Very easy to do.

Hi Tartago,
I'm just back from flying my Hunter, sunny and calm here in the U.K. Reference my set up I'm using 4S 3200 mah 14.8V,60 amp Castle Creation ESC. I forgot to set my timer on my 2nd flight and the low voltage cut kicked in-luckily I glided her in for a smooth landing.

Wow! She can do dead sticks too? I'm happy you managed to bring her safely home.

I have a Rhino 4S 3300, but is 25C. First I will try the 4S and then the 6S.

Delayed. Cockpit secured with magnets.

I needed to re-open her because the pushrods are bending badly.

My solution was to add a small foam block and hot melt glue them.

I also added two magnets for the cockpit hatch. After loosing a canopy in a swamp I want to be extra cautious.
