The early version p-47 had the purple FMS 4250-Kv500 motor and then FMS started installing the newer gold paep 4250-kv 540 motors. Both motors do well with the stock 4 blade prop on the P-47 as I have tried both sizes, but I like the 540 a little better along with running a 80amp esc with a 10amp CC ubec.

Maybe it's time to throw in the towel.

So I upgraded the motor in my Carbon Z to a Power 60 and moved the E-Flite BL-50 (the stock Carbon Z motor) into the P-47 to turn the 14x8 4 blade prop. The BL-50 had been successfully flown in the Carbon Z on 6S.

The plane took off great and flew around for a few minutes fine. I did not run the plane full throttle the whole time. I noticed it was not has peppy as it was with the same prop and the FMS motor. But after a few minutes, the motor started to die and smoke could be seen coming from the plane.

Upon landing and inspection the motor was fried. Locked and would not budge. Everything else was fine.

So it may not work out running the FMS P-47 on 6S with a 4 blade prop.

Wing attachment

I know this is a very old thread - but it has recent activity so I am going to jump on too.
Got this plane second hand, which most importantly meant no Manual.

Can someone please tell me the size of the screws that are [supposed to be] used to hold the main wings on? They must be 2.5mm diameter or smaller and of unknown length.

Do you mean the screws for the main spar clamps if sow I think 2mm to 2.5mm.
I glued wooden blocks onto my wings and ply sheets on the fuselage plus two wood screw to hold wing in place and only I use wood screws because they were in my tool box.
I d not trust the Wing spar clamps

You can download the manual from our website if you need it. The Wing hold downs are 2.0 machine thread. There is a nut embedded in the holder located out in the wing

Don't know if I've asked this yet, but can the 1700 retracts be used in the 1400? Mine hasn't even been flown yet, and the left retract quit completely, and the right stutters so bad it's probably not too far behind, or something from the 1450's maybe?

No they can't, they area different size. FMS has redone the retract and are now using FMSRE003, they are a little more robust.

'Bout Time!

Well, after almost 4 years of letting it sit for lack of a bigger space to fly it, we took our V. 2 1400mm P47 to a local boat-launch with a paved parking lot, and FINALLY maidened it. Took off into a 10-15mph head wind, with flaps down, and she lifted off the ground in less than 20 feet. Flies really nice, with no bad tendencies, but I did notice it seemed a bit down on power with a Sky-LiPo 4s, 2650mAh at 20c continuous, and 40c burst. The retracts flew south about 2 years ago, so she flew with wheels down. Pretty responsive, although a little too sensitive at the Elevator. And where it didn't need a ton of runway for take off, needed almost the entire width of the parking lot (at least 50 yards) to land. She rolled. And rolled. And rolled. Finally one the those little concrete wheel stops stopped it, with a retract ripped right outta the wing, and a broken prop blade. No sweat, epoxy the retract back in, throw another blade on the hub...and put 'er away for the rest of the day, so the epoxy had enough time to fully cure. Had other stuff to fly, so it was all good. Don't rightly know why I was so afraid to fly it, other than the field size thing, this plane gave no reason to fear flying it. Didn't film it, as every time I film a maiden flight of ANYTHING, something usually goes wrong...
