tamjets TJ80 pnp with 1509 2y with cc 100 lite

I'm putting this in a new Habu 32. Is the bec in the cc 100 lite in the tail cone OK for this jet. With 8 servos (although 4-5 servos most of the time while flying) this seems to be asking a lot. I've got a stock setup with an onboard 1100 life battery. Also has anyone tried 9s with this? I realize the esc should stay quite cool being where Tam has located it, but I believe the bec in it is only good for 5 amps. Any info from users with this setup will be greatly appreciated. thanks Stephan. ps. I've got 260 flights now on the stock one and still going strong. new 65c batteries and it's flying level at 128 mph. !!!

set up for 10-20% more thrust???

Hi,

I'm preparing to order the Habu32 and looking for a fan/motor that I would use for the build. I'd like to run 6S (to keep it light) and have just a little more power than the stock setup. The stock setup runs 60-65Amps...I'd be ok going to 70-80Amps with improved thrust.

Is there a commonly used option like this? I've searched this thread and it seems folks use a Mega on 8S or run the stock on 7S. I don't know how I'd charge a 7S pack...might need a new charger. At any rate, 6S is more convenient and cheaper. Along those lines, I'm looking for an inexpensive upgrade (if it exists), no $300 alloy fans.

Thanks,

Andy

Andy- stock on 7s is possible with the right cooling. As for a hotter 6s setup, the options you mentioned would work, you could also go with a TJ80 from tamjets or a jetfan 80 for a nice improvement in sound and performance.

I know what you mean about charging a 7s pack since most balancing taps for this batteries need creative and careful adaptation to balance charge. The ones from HK typically have two balancing leads a 3s and 4s coming out of it where as the gens ace 7s has a 7s lead and I have yet to find a balancing board you can buy for 7s, some make their own though....

I fly with a 5100 mAh 6S setup with a 85 Amp ESC and it's powering the 80MM Stu Max fan. The fan sounds awesome, it's quiet and sexy looking and it's a snap to install. That's the beauty of this hobby, so many choices.

Thanks! What motor would I use w/the TJ80 or jetfan80 or Stufan? Would I get more thrust or just sound? Any idea on the power made vs the eflite setup?

Hi Tom
When You installed Stus Fan did you have to move stuff around or add weight to get the COG right?
Thanks
Steve.

I dunno about $300.00 alloy fans but you will be spending more than 300 bucks on some of the other fans suggested without motor! Only the Jetfan is in the value price range at 150 odd.

Here is a 6s combo with CNC alloy housing, custom wemo PRO rotor and HET 700 series motor, well under $300.00 for the complete fan unit with motor, just add brackets for the Habu install.

Also have a Jetfan combo for not much more $$, still under 300 complete with motor.

Compared to other high quality EDFs, (EI: Scheubeler, Stumax, jetfan) the Mach 80mm setups bring you great sound, speed, and probably the smoothest, coolest running EDFs available. We've yet to explore the upper limits of these fans yet.
With a $115-130 ARC or HET motor, the 6, 8, and 10s setups are not unreasonable.
Consider that some high end users are running motors that cost twice as much.
There's no fussing with the Mach EDF's. They run smooth as silk right out of the box.

The stumax was a plug-and-play just dropped right in! I did not have to add any weight at all, I just moved my battery forward To bring the aircraft back in CG. That size of battery moved forward worked just fine

Thanks Tom
The reason I asked was, my last one of these had a Stumax and even with the
battery moved off the tray as far as the steering servo it was still a bit tail heavy. Mind you it was a 4000 mah battery. Thanks again for the clarification.
Cheers
Steve.

Steve,
Why not put a 5000mAh battery in it? (that's the stock size battery anyway)

With my 80mm Stumax i run either a 6 cell 5000mah. Or a 7 cell 5800 Compact (same weight)
C of G is fine.
