On the blimp I fly, we have a tail motor with a 4x6 prop.
It pulls great in one direction (as any prop should) but when the motor is reversed, there is not much thrust/control.
Could I take two props and mount them back-to-back in an "X" pattern to get good thrust in both motor directions?
Or is there an alternative prop that I could acheive this with?

I do that on my blimp as well, using a prop on both ends of the motor shaft so that when one prop is spinning in the proper direction the other prop is spinning in reverse. Props have considerably less thrust when run in reverse.
