2S800 &1S150 lipos for Blade Helis

Just as the title says I need new packs for my Blade CX and MCX. I also need upper and lower blades for my CX. IF you don't have maybe you can suggest a website that has some good deals on some.

I recently ordered 4 Turnigy nano-tech 160mah 1S 25~40C Lipo Packs from HobbyKing @ $1.37 each because I waited for a few minutes and let the "One Time Only" offer pop up. With shipping, it was just under $8.50 for 4 batteries. I am using larger nano-techs I bought off EBay for my MQX and I love them. No puffing and a very stable and long flight time. The new ones are coming from China, so they are taking a while to get here. I read a lot on this board about people ordering from HK, so I am not really worried. If you don't mind spending a little more to get them faster, you can try EBay and limit the results to US sellers. I don't know of any US based hobby sites selling them, but I haven't really looked.

I bought 2 Lectron Pro batteries for the MCX2 from the LHS. One failed in a week and the other went soon after it. Based on my experience with them, I would stay away from those. I have a few other brands that have lasted as well as the stock batteries (and they came with some used helis I picked up) but the Lectron Pros were a big disappointment at over $10 each.

Hey,

Thanks for the reply. I just checked and think I found the ones you are referring to. Man, for that price I can wait a couple weeks for them to get here. $1.67 how do they do it? To bad the USA warehouse doesn't carry them.

The ones I ordered are a little different. Yours have a slightly higher base discharge rate and are lighter. Not sure if there would be a noticeable difference between the two. The link to the nano-tech I ordered is below.

Hey,

Thanks for the link. I also noticed they offer a 300mah but not sure its a good idea to add the extra 4 grams of weight. The stock 160mah weighs 4.3 grams and the 300mah weigh 8 grams. Would that make a huge difference in the flight characteristics of the mini Blade?

For your MCX, the base discharge rates look too high and they would not fit correctly in the holder. I had 2 180mah and they gave me problems rubbing against the servo gears because they were too long. If you do longer batteries, remember to position them to keep your center of gravity and keep them away from the servo gears.

For my MCX2's, I won't go above 160mah (1S 120mah is stock). On my MQX, I go 600mah (1S 500mah is stock). And for my SR, I go 1300mah (3S 1000mah is stock). Oddly enough, I had a hard time with the SR being tail heavy until I bought a heaver battery.

I have read a few post about people running batteries in parallel and flying 20 minutes, but these little motors need to rest in between flights. The MCX2 is notorious for warping the frame from the heat of the motor. That is why I have 2 of them. One has a lot of CNC metal parts and I can tell you the added weight has made it very stable but has lowered the flight time down to 5 minutes because the motor is working harder. The stock MCX2 with a stick tail like the MCX buzzes around 7 to 9 minutes on the same battery and moves a lot faster.

I was wrong

I have been doing some reading about LiPO's and I was wrong in the first paragraph. Higher discharge rates are better and should be bought if the price is reasonable and the batteries fit. Here is where I found a lot of info: http://www.rchelicopterfun.com/rc-lipo-batteries.html
