The 3S setup I have is about 380 watts on 3S, it is the Wicked 4800 motor. If you have a good high C rated lipo it will go over 400 watts. I don't have anything more than that which I typically suggest for 3S as the amps get really high for higher KV and that wastes power so I usually tell people to go up to 4S as the next progression from the 4800 3S setup. You could go the HET 6404 and the Wicked 4000 Plus motor that is ~450 watts on 3S but it is heavier as well as that is really meant as a higher powered 4S setup, but you would be running on 3S. By the way, that 326 watts your are measuring on the stock system is that the reading after about 15 seconds run time so it settles a little? I thought they were closer to 280 watts or so one settled down.

Did the test again. Seems to settle down to about 310-315w

What fan unit do you recommend?

For the 3S/380 watt setup the fan I call the "EDO Type 2" is what I install the motors into.

Get a thrust tube in that thing, set the exhaust diameter to 49-51mm and you'll really notice a significant difference in top speed.

Does fitting a thrust tube increase the current draw? If so , by how much roughly?

Can the stock motor handle 4S?
I have a 50A esc from my Mirage 4000 which uses 4S.

I'm using the stock motor on 4s (no thrust tube) and it seems to be ok so far. I only use full throttle for take off and the occasional fast pass and climb out, so maybe that's why it's holding up.

Quite a bit faster and it'll now do nice large loops and is able to climb vertically after a fast pass for about 200' before slowly losing momentum.

Any good setup recomendation to hit high speed on turnigy or hobbyking motor

Would like to know this as well. I've already burnt two stock motors running on 4S.

Yup, avoid going vertical at full power.

Finally donked mine this weekend. 15-20 mph shifting winds. Had three flights trying to 3D this thing in the wind.... Came in on the last run, was about 20 inches from the ground ready to land and got a strong crosswind. I tried to counter it and pulled up and went in on the nose from about 5 feet. I now have a twisted beak. Going to soak it in hot water and blow dry, then reform it.

Or perhaps this is the reason to get my 4S Don's wicked set up going !
