Prop Balancers

Hi,
I'm trying to figure out which type of prop balancer to buy.
Can you give me your opinions and experiences on magnetic versus roll type (like the one Grim Racer sells).

Thanks for your time.

A white LED (light they use in flashlights) and a 555 timer circuit does great.

I think I need to post a schematic for it sometime, but you can find them online from places like DonTronics.

I had a magnetic balancer that I used to balance RC buggy tires. I could never get it to reproduce a result from one spin to the next. I thought that maybe the rod was getting magnetized and was 'fighting' the magnet in the stand, at least that's what it seemed like. The other thing was that I saw tiny scratches on the magnet face and thought that they be affecting the results but I haven't heard or read of anybody having these problems ... am I the only one ?

Thanks.

You need to get a straight shaft. That's in the article.

The ones that come with them are notoriously NOT straight.
