DJI naza Yaw gain Question
Hi guys i had a little problem setting up gains on my Tarot hex with a naza with a v2 Firmware installed. well how do i properly set the yaw gains in naza?
well my hex react a bit strange some like it's not smooth on yawing and it tilting a bit when i input a yaw (left or right) in flight (all modes) it's like there's some gain that over sensitive but i don't know which one
it flies great btw, no oscillation when i give fast input on roll and pitch axis...but somewhat it did like, somewhat the yaw it's not smooth enough but it's likely a rough yawing
sorry if you don't understand what i mean, well the point is. my hex is yawing rough and not having a smooth turn
should i decrease my yaw rate? or maybe my roll / pitch rate ?

LockedHigh what gains did you end up with? I have the tarot frame. My motors props are slightly different and can't get this Naza v2 dialed in at all.

I had this problem with APC props. It went completely away after going with Graupners. Maybe bc they are lighter? I am not sure

I use XOAR wood props now, which are very light and my 450 is remarkably stable over a very wide range of gain settings.

I'm having issues too since changing the motors on my QAV500. I used to have FM-4006-13 motors and recently upgraded to T-Motor MN3508-16. Stupidly, I also updated to the latest Naza firmware at the same time. Now I can't get yaw dialed in. If I lower the yaw gain, the craft rotates clockwise. If I turn the gain up, the rotation stops but there's an irritating wobble or hiccup when I yaw. I can't seem to tune it out and I'm not sure if it's the new motors or the new software. Any hints would be appreciated.
On an unrelated note, take-off is much more difficult. I know this is because of the software update, it goes from zero to take-off speed and is extremely wobbly during that first second of flight. I've already destroyed 2 Graupners this way.

hi all, please also review my settings an help me here!
I have the new Black Snapper Quad and it flies great. theres just some yaw gain problem also:
60cm motor2 motor distance
2,4kg (with batteries)
COG should be ok
frame not fully symmetrical (a bit like the TBS Discovery, Dead Cat style...)
DJI Naza V2 + DJI Iosd mini
Tmotor MT4006 -13 (92gr, 740KV, Max 24A, 250W)
ESC Maytech 30 Amp (simonK flashed in shop)
12x6 Graupner eprops
4Cell turnigy nanotech (2x 3300mah) batteries
full specs here in my Hangar
Motor idle speed: Recomanded +1 (higer)
pitch roll yaw vert
Basic 135 135 165 135
Atti 140 140
if I apply quick right yaw stick (so "nose" turns right) you see the rear right motor going up, and left front motor going down - so a diagonal "wobble" occurs. It waves the quad 1-2 times and than it's normal and spins right fast as it should. if you dont understand I can make a short video...
if I apply quick left yaw - it just yaws left quickly as desired - no wobble!
Also if you yaw while flying and the change the yawing direction fast - you get the shakes. Sometimes this was so hard shakes I was afraid it would crash - but it didn't...
So I did some Yaw gain tuning but couldn't find better values.
If I lower yaw to 130% - I get a little less wobble an fast right yaw, but if I fly and lower throttle to descend (ok quads get instable here normally) I have the quad turning by itself left - wich is irritating and dangerous...
So I raised it now again to around 165% and if you know it its ok - I just have to move really easy (or with much expo) on the yaw stick.
Any comments to get this issue sorted out?
Is it a naza thing?
I think I have similar issues on yaw on my TBS Disco with Naza v1 - I'll have to test this out soon...

OK guys, nobody a clue here?
I did some more research and had a few trials today. Nothing really helped so far.
The only workaround: more expo on the rudder so I get to fly with really soft yaw inputs.
- more Pitch gains than Roll (10% more) - no diff...
- lower gains in general - no diff...
- lower yaw gain: 140% is already too low - i need around 160%
- ESCs are calibrated - at least all motors start to spin at the same time
- cog is som 1,5cm forward - should be good
heres a video describing all and showing the wobble:

For me it was really two things:
1st: not all motors were straight / horizontally aligned on the tube shaped motor arms. diagonally opposing motors had a few degree twist which made this issue worse - but only in one direction (right yaw)
2nd: the main issue here is proper COG!!!! (center of gravity)
I was 2-3cm forward of where I should have been. So I moved my batteries all the way back (measured the copters cog with 2 strings attached to the motors - so it gave me a cross and showed the CG.
A short testflight made me really smile. As soon as I can make a short vid I post the proof here ;-)

I have a similar yaw issue, tarot 650 frame, multistar 4822 570, afro 30's with latest simonk (1/2014) naza lite, 1447 cf props. Flashing the esc took most of the wobble out, but there is still some rolling or wobble when I enter yaw to left. Usually more pronounced when yaw has some pitch. Can't seem to tune it out. I will double check to see that motors are level. Any thoughts?
