They will work with 3 cell batteries. Don't run 4s though as you'll kill them on a prop that big.

That's what I was going to say - I didn't see any jello/gello/wobbliness.

is there data on the carbonbird motor for thrust and amp draw?

they look similar in size to the Keda 20-22L or the Hackers..

are they similar in size and performance?

They are similar sized motors to the KDA but with lower KV (775), better bearings and longer wires to go though the boom.

Ultimately, I think the CarbonBirds are a much better choice, especially when running on 4s - great performance and run time!

I will be getting some more motors soon and can test the amp draw with different props. I can't easily measure thrust at the moment, but will try!

Hey guys a quick question, my friend's tricopter scarab is 860g with GoPro and no LiPo. Is that a good weight for it or should I tell him to start shortening some wires

Just asking because we did a little comparison and with the same onboard stuff my diy wood tri is the exact same weight.

I think the weight is about right. Maybe someone with a tricopter can chime in and confirm. My carbon Scarab QuadOcta with long booms, CarbonBird 775kv motors, 4s 2200 lipo, FPV gear and GoPro comes in at 2.3 pounds.
