Not for my set up at least. You will probably fly at ~70% throttle (~45Amp) most of the time. Batteries after a 3 min circuit was at ~100F. That is why I don't source current from 1 big pack pulling 150Amp.

So you run two 6s in parallel?

Edit: disregard, I went back and saw you posted it... Do you run the same setup/batts in the A-10?

Interesting idea- so how long are your flight times?

Damon, yes, the A10 has the same set up. Not parallel. One 6s 2600mAh feeding one ESC/Fan/motor.

ITTD, My timer is set to go off at 2:30 By the time I landed, it is a 3:15min flight. Typically, my charger puts 1600mAh back in the 2600 pack.

There is a groups of guys in Singapore I think they all fly their 29 in 4s, 2x3000s in parallel they get good flight times like 4-6+ minutes but they fly Wemo/HET set ups on 5B fans, I'm sure the 4s set ups are not ideal for 12B fans, just way to high amps for a 14.8v set up
On my mild ERC 12B/HET 3w25 fans in my Su35 it draw only 88-90A at WOT so I get decent flight times, like 4-5 minutes- thats pretty good on a twin 70

ITTD,
I thought I show you what wonderful things your FreeWing 12B special metal fan / 2200v motor can do for your F-22. I am sure my RCBlog Galaxy 12B are made by the same manufacturer.

55-degree-plus climb-out! I don't think my HET powered LX Mig29 can do the same. My maximum amp draw is 70Amp per motor.

Mig29 Twin 70mm powered by 2 FreeWing aka RCBlog Galaxy (4 min 9 sec)

Nice flight! Are you using stock landing gear?

Thanks Damon! I have been using stock plastic landing gears and I don't usually have problems with them. I may occasionally get a gear stuck in down position, but that's about all the problem I had.

One of my main V2 got stuck up. Need to grease the end points so they can break away when called to do so. I tried cycling them about 6 times before high alpha landing it into the wind. Minimal scrape on wing tip.

Very nice indeed. You know I also have my Mig 29 finished and ready to rock and roll So, I am not discriminating against the J-10 LOL

What are the throws on your Mig 29? Also, I have installed the FW 12B CR EDFs on my SU 35 and they are awesome. Although a bit of an amp hog but I love them. What mah battery do you use and how long do you fly your Mig?

Thanks

I will give you my CG and throws perhaps later today or tomorrow...I am pooped from being in the sun all morning.

I am using 2 separate 6s 2600mAH 40C. Each pack supplies dedicated electrons via 12AWG wires to one set of ESC+MOTOR. The batteries ARE NOT paralleled together. I don't like to heat up the connectors, wires, battery and electronics running 100 to 140amp through a single 10AWG wire.

3.5 to 4 minutes flight duration depending on flying mood. I am sure if I fly at half throttle all the time, it would exceed 7 min. I am just surprised at 50% throttle setting, it draws only 40% of its max amp draw.

GarryK,

I've tried adding washers, rubber rings, zip-ties, fishing line knots, etc. to cushion to jam between at the endpoints. Anything helps. Although you still get a stuck gear once in a blue moon.
