I'm currently building this A-10 from Uncle Willies and am interested if anyhone has built this per plan. I'm doing mine as an electric but interested in any flight info gas or electric. Also any articles that may be associated with this plan. BTW the plans are great.

Wish I could help you but have no experience with that plan. I did just pick up plans for a 92" ws A-10 so I guess great minds run in the same channel, huh?

No, it's an old slimer ducted fan plan. Decent outlines but will need a lot of work for a more scale appearance. Man, at 92" it is huge!

Building heavy? My last two were over 12 lbs AUW. What size is the willie's plan?

Nice size at 56"ws The plans are fantastic just take them to Kinko etc to print out or scale up.

I'm wanting to go somewhat larger DAF. After looking at them, the 92" ws might be a little too big. But I haven't settled on building it just yet either. Please post your progress.

I meant to ask you are going EDF or pusher prop(s)?

Getting enought power isn't a problem with todays BL motors and lipos. One problem with a pusher is the limit on the size of the prop and not being able to rotate on TO...but thats what 3 bladed props are for.

Of course we could put 2 BL motors in the engine pods again limit on prop size...and 2 motors combined will give you more power than 2 motors..I bet 15-30% more.

This what makes the scratching fun....not always knowing how it will all come out....love living on the edge.

I was figuring either pushers or even tractors in the nacelles. Still a little limited on prop size but with today's motors, shouldn't be a problem. No way I'm going EDF, that porker would be 50 lbs!

some more progress..

the side view that bothers me although its per plan.

I think it needs to be flatter along bottom and start its upward curvature just before tip of nose. I think I'll slice some off the bottom and add a peice and reshape...gotta love foam

J, as a point of reference for your big A10 at this point all balsa except for pink foam & balsa fuse top. regular servo for elevator..13ga wire(+-) from motor to nose (twisted)...wt 2lbs11oz ( 43oz)....really not too bad. wing alone wts 21oz....making fuse alone 22oz.

I got some 6/3mm depron and am tempted to make another wing with 6mm bottom skin, 6 mm ribs and 3mm top skin with spruce 3/16 sq spars.....1.5 oz FG + PU.........I thinking of a goal of 10oz ...of course if it did come out this lite then 6mm depron with 1/16ply reinforcred fuse with 2oz fgpu.

Than can use a smaller motor & bat and hand launch the sucker.

I think that is worth considering. At that size the weight will be important. I think I would redo the wing if you think you can really cut the weight in half.

I looked at one of you threads ....the B26 I think and saw how you are doing
the fuse...thats awesome! The A10 fuse is quite basic and could be easily be done that way. I'm going to look for a local supply for PVA and wax.

I'm going to do the center panel of the A10 using depron (this is the heavy part of the wing) and see what the wt comes out to...which will give me a good basis for the overall wing wt in depron.
