Its arming plugs for the battery, and one MPX arming plug for the Jeti MAX BEC 2.

The battery arming plugs is for safety, and charge without having to remove the wing.

Hi Jocke,

I am in the process of building the same model Spitfire as this with electric power. Would you mind if I asked a couple of questions as it is my first ARF build and the instructions are a big vague in areas?

Did you glue the centre joint of the wings together?

What CoG and flying weight did you end up with?

Thanks,

Jaz

This has to be the nicest Spit model out there in the .60 and over size. Gorgeous plane.

Hi guys, sure you can ask questions, i will try to help.

Yes the wings are glued togheter, and the CG is by the recomended location from the manual, but a little more forward, i know by the hard way that its very very hard to fly this plane with the CG to far back, if you are not sure.... make sure its atleast by the recommended location.

Another notice is the flaps, we started with about 30 degrees, but it wasent stable with this, we gained the rates to 60 degrees and it became much more stable in landing, but you have to hold up the nose some.

I can also say that we have had a few flights with this nice plane now, and with the sound module and a speaker located in the nose, wow what a great experience it is to make a pass by the field, and to taxi along the runway is now very cool and fun

But we have had to load it with alot of weight to get the CG, we are actually now flying it with 12s 5Ah cells, and the sound system in the cowl with an extra 3s 4200 pack to get the CG, the plane still flyes good but we have the power as a 50cc gas engine. We therefore decided to go ahead and get the 50cc ESM Spitfire that arrived yesturday, we will put the sound and motorsystem in that instead.

Thanks for the info Jocke. That is too bad about the weight though. If you had to do the build over, are there any tricks you can think of that would remove tail weight? Also wondering how far forward (how close to the motor) were you able to get the batts? Finally, what AUW and wing loading did you wind up at? Thanks

Battery was as far front to the firewall as possible, and in the cowl both speaker, a 900g motor and a 3s 4200LiPo, actually everything was as far in front as possible, we even had to remove the superlight Mejzlik carbon spinner with cooling, to a much heavier low cost aluminum spinner (280g!!!) to get the CG where we wanted it, this ended up to be heavy and we powered up to 50cc power, so the idea to keep this system in the 72" version seemed unfair when there is a 50cc 2,26m version. I dont know about the AUW, but its hard to build it light when you need so much weight far up front, thats another story with a heavy gas motor.

If i would do it agin, and perhaps we will remake this version, we will redesign the firewall so its possible to have packs in under the motor and as much as possible in the cowl.

Or maybe a longer XVIII style cowl, though that would not match the rest of the plane. I'd really like to get this model down the road but I hate heavy builds.
