Nico Hobbies Mini Profile Su-30MK

OK, so Tram wanted an Su-30, and here it is! This will be part of the Nico Hobbies Mini Profile Pusher lineup, to be posted on the site soon. But for now, here it is with plans for all the scratch builders out there.

Pretty simple design, much like all the other profile pusher jets. Tailerons only on this one. Was thinking of adding ailerons (and you can still do it if you want), but the prototype flew well with just tailerons, so I'm leaving it at that for now.

Assembly is pretty easy, in this order. Glue in the wing spar, then hinge the tailerons and glue on the front section of the body (if you cut it separately). Glue on the intake sides, the top and bottom fuse sections, the belly pan, the vertical stabs, and finally the ventral fins. Then I glue in the motor mount and control horms with hot glue.

Add your electronics and you've got a plane!

Here are my stats:

Motor: AX1806N 2500kv
ESC: Generic 10A
Servos: 2x HXT500 5-gram
Prop: GWS 4530
Lipo: Hyperion G3 3S 850mAh 25C
RX: XPS Nano-E 6-ch

Length: 27.08", 687.8mm

Width: 18.47", 469.1mm

Dry weight is 3.7oz, 104 grams.

AUW with the 3S 850 is 6.1oz, 173 grams.

Still working on a build guide and a set of decals, but I've included pics of the plane I'm going to paint it up after.

EDIT - Kits are now available on my website, Nico Hobbies Mini Su-30!

Your comments are welcomed!

And of course, I have to add the usual legalese:

These plans and decals are for personal use only and may not be copied, altered or used for commercial purposes.

Thanks for the video Al! It really shows off the high alpha capability of the plane.

And of all the other mini pusher jets I've done, this one flies almost exactly like the F-22, which is the best flyer of the bunch.

The bare airframe with no electronics is probably just over 1 ounce. With motor/ESC/2 servos/RX it is 3.7oz.

That should work no problem. It would be a nice and docile flyer on that setup.
