Question
Buy direct APC, Master Airscrew..?

Just wondered if anyone has bought direct from these. I did place an order, with card details a few days ago, but I'm still waiting for an email from MA about the shipping cost prior 'for my approval'. As yet nothing in my mailbox...!

HK(UK) is a bit hopeless for 'APC Style' props. All they sell are 14x7s. MA has the edge on prices. Also looked at Graupner, but their site is a nightmare to try and use.

There must be a better way...?

There are loads of model shops in the UK who do mail order, Master Airscrew (Windsor Propeller Co.), is in the States.

Also take care on what props you buy, some are very good for stirring paint, so are good for flying.

Don't waste your money on MA props. Best used as door jambs or paint stirrers, but only for low-quality paint; for the good paint you should still use a proper wooden stick.

APC props are the good stuff as far as sport flying goes. You can order directly from their site; I haven't tried it but I'd assume they're not awful. Dunno if shipping to the UK will be cost-effective, though... Aren't there any UK-based stores selling them?

Sure, there are UK sellers - if you don't mind being ripped off. One site I looked at the APC look-alikes are reasonably priced, but then they charge you about $7 for postage. Proper APCs are typically $4 for a 6" prop. excl postage. They don't call it 'rip-off Britain' for nothing!

BTW I ordered a selection of APC look-alike 6" and 7" props from HK(UK), but when they arrived they were all 14x7s. I used the 'user input' panel, but it didn't seem to woek. They said they only sell the 14" props in the UK, despite giving a different impression. Since14" props are no use to me, if anyone wants a four freebies, let me know.

Is there anything you're looking for here, (probably the cheapest) -

http://www.giantshark.co.uk/style-pr...r-c-77_97.html

Watch out for APCe props and APCe 'Style' props, when regarding price. The later, (Style), are not true APC props, just copies.

Also BRC has a fair range of genuine APCe props -

I have a few spare props myself -

The research agrees. APC props are much more efficient and render better performance by a large margin. But if you're going to order APC wannabe props, all bets are off. Small differences that you can't see can make a prop into a paint stirrer. I wouldn't buy anything but genuine APC.

As some have said, the trick is going to be finding a good supplier for your side of the pond.

Got my first Giantshark order this a.m. Really quick delivery, but one item surplus - and one item missing. I ordered an Rx and got a brick-sized lipo instead!
