Very good translation

Thanks. Is change #2 correct? I don't really know what's a governor and I'm guessing the Chinese words describing "fixing speed" is talking about the governor.

The official v4.0 firmware binary is different from the v4.0 that Tarot sent me. I flashed it and... the violent servos came back! So, I'm back to the customized v4.0 now.

Governor is to fix a head speed by either ESC or gyro (zyx) such that we just need to control the pitch of the heli. Throttle curves will be set to flat. I use it in my 250 with ESC governor mode.

Cyclic range

I tried the following settings and all gave me +/- 10 degrees of cyclic range on the bench, when I give full cyclic stick movements.

1. Aileron & Elevator Travel 70, D/R Rate 100%, Agility 45
2. Aileron & Elevator Travel 70, D/R Rate 100%, Agility 15
3. Aileron & Elevator Travel 70, D/R Rate 60%, Agility 45
4. Aileron & Elevator Travel 70, D/R Rate 60%, Agility 15

Observation: on the bench, D/R at 100% vs 60%; and Agility 45 vs 15, does not affect cyclic range.

zyx 4.0 firmware

I just run zyx 4.0 setup software and found that it does support governor mode in Advanced Menu.

However, there is no entry to specific the desire head speed. It just has Governor gain, P, I, D gains and Calibrate RPM box. Governor is off by default. Does this mean zyx-s governor mode only support 1 head speed ?

Also, in the setup menu, I did not see any port in zyx-s for the connection to external rpm sensor. How does zyx-s track the head speed ?

My bad, I miss read the fact that we need a new extension module called zyx20 to support governor in zyx-s. However, I could not find this zyx20 in 0577mx.com - official Tarot website.

Thanks,

Ching-Ho Cheng

Unfortunately it goes back to what we were saying before - FBL works differently to FB.

When you move the cyclic stick you are now telling the FBL unit to give a certain rate of turn, not a specific angle of swash - the FBL unit usually give lots of angle for a short period of time to get the rate of rotation requested. This is one of the reasons why FBL can be much more agile then FB, and why they need better servos.

The way in which it behaves on the bench is very different to how it behaves in the air - you have to forget some of the Flybar based ideas unfortunately

My bad, I miss read the fact that we need a new adapter cable called zyx20 to support governor in zyx-s. However, I could not find this zyx20 adapter cable in 0577mx.com - official Tarot website.

Ching-Ho,

I have a Robird G31 with an internal governor - with that unit you run a set-up process for the G31 to learn your motor gearing etc. and then you set up your curves to give you a headpseed based upon what the G31 learnt in governor set-up. For example if the unit sees a maximum headspeed of 4000 in set-up mode, you can then set up flat "curves" of 75%, 80%, and 85% to give approx HS of 3,000, 3,200 and 3,400 HS.

I'm not sure if that is how the ZYX-S does it but that would be my guess

Cheers,
Mike.

Mike,

Thanks for the explanation. Up to now, I just use my CC ESC to setup governor speeds. The way Robird G31 works is new to me.

Thanks,

Yeah I have a CC on a couple of helis and it is quite different (setting the target HS via Castelink). The way that the G31 does it is the same as YGE and (I believe) Kontronic, a little bit more messing about but fine so long as you have a tach (or a smart-phone ).

Cheers,
Mike.

This is good news. I've updated the fw in a 450 & I'm looking forward to a test flight.

I'll probably only get chance for a hover in the back yard this weekend but by the middle of next week I'll know if anything bad happens in FFF

Simon

ps. Thanks for the swash movement vids guys.

Sweet! I'll have to download it and see what kind of difference it makes

...now I can't get my ZYX-S to connect to the FBL Programmer, it was working fine when I first got it. Now, nothing at all, it simply won't connect!
