Optimum regulator for 7-12vdc gear?
Would a 7.2v UBEC be the optimum regulator to power the following 7-12v rated gear?
copter power: 4S Lipo
7.2v 2.5A UBEC > http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ly_6_23v_.html
ground station power: 3S Lipo
7.2v 4.5A UBEC > http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ly_6_23v_.html
My thinking is that a 7.2v UBEC would help to minimize the stress put on internal linear regulators that bring the internal voltage to 5v. Or would it be better to use a 9v UBEC and add more clearance above the 6.7v drop out. Or is there some reason to simply use the 12v UBEC and let the internal regulators dissipate the heat?
Also, is it recommended to put LC filters after UBEC regulators from HK or are the the coils in the output lines enough to reduce noise?
p.s. what about a 3S LifePo4 for powering the receiver/monitor without a regulator? Voltage range of 8.4-9.9v should be just about right, no?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have yet to settled on any of the above gear yet. Just trying to figure it all out first
