Geared Himax 2025-4200 - Outrunner equivalent?

Hi,

I have been running a Himax 2025-4200 in a GWS gearbox in my GWS Corsair(s) with excellent results. My planes are between 18-21 oz. Could someone suggest an affordable outrunner with similar power to the geared Himax?

5.33 and 6.6, spinning 9x7 GWS props, two and three blade.

I'd like to spin a four-blade prop if possible. Was looking at Vario Props.

So equivalent KV ungeared would be around 6-750.

VERY hard to get near that.

Hextronic DT700 or 750 is probably nearest, but its a BIG diameter.

3s I take it?

Yep, 3S. Seems most people are using around 1000kv motors for this plane size/weight. But I don't think they're getting the power I can get from the geared inrunner.

The 2410-09Y listed below looks interesting, though:

What would the Himax 2025-4200 provide as input power to the prop via the gear drive? I don't think I know how to figure that out through a reduction gear.

The Tower Pro specs (attached) show the 2410-9T-4Y as 8.4A continuous and 13A max/60S with a 10 x 4.7 (probably something like a GWS DD or HD). That would be 85 to 130 or so input Watts at 10V. Does that sound like enough power?

I have heard there are some things you can get with reduction gear drives, as far as prop speeds and actual flying characteristics, that simply can't be obtained from an outrunner. But I've never used reduction gears.

An AXI 2212/26 with a 10x6 GWS HD gets you this:

10.9v, 11.70A, 127W, 7590rpm, 43.1mph, 770g, 27.11oz, 6.06g/W

A very inexpensive KEDA TR2834/16 (~1165Kv) with a 10x6 GWS HD gets you this:

10.6v, 18.60A, 198W, 8520rpm, 48.4mph, 1011g, 35.60oz, 5.11g/W

A Himaxx 2025 + gearbox is around 95g... so either of these will save you a lot of weight.
