need input on heavly lift multirotor for rc skydiver drop rig.
I have a friend that produces rc skydivers and he needs a drop rig. Back in the day I could carry one up with my rc helicopter or his senor telemaster. Well, things have advanced quite a bit since then and a multirotor seems like it would fit the bill perfectly.
Each rc skydiver is righ around 3lbs rtf and he would like to be able to drop at least 2 at a time with multiple drops from one battery pack. What I would like are suggestions and inputs from the pros 6 lbs isn't a huge load to carry and I think that will be the simple part.
The hard part.... he wants the rig to be semi autonomous. He would like to turn the multi on, flip a switch and have it fly up to around 1500ft or so, drop both skydivers (with 5sec delay or so). fly about 50ft away and hover for minute or so to let the skydivers land and then land on its own, ready to carry up more skydivers!
I am thinking an APM flight controller would fit the bill for the autonomous part.
So, what are your suggestions?
My best guess would be maybe a 550 hex with these motors
if you run a 9x6 prop on 4S it "should" produce about 3.7 lbs of thrust, correct?
you would probably need 35/40A escs.
The 4S pack would need to be capable of at least 170A continuous.....
so maybe these packs
On a Hex at WOT you should get around 20lbs of thrust??? say the entire rig weighs 10lbs rtf (complete guess) then you should be able to carry 2 or maybe 3 skydivers......
Help is much appreciated, my buddy has about a 1K budget for this project. Thanks in advance guys.
