BVM F-16 Retract Set

I am looking for a BVM F-16 Nose gear assembly with the retract. This retract lays flat when retracted.

I am guessing a Yellow Aircraft or Jet Legend would work also. If need be I can get the whole set if somebody has them.

I am open to any suggestions.

Thanks Clay

Did you call BVM? The Sabre twist and turn unit should be the same, either the mechanical unit or the newer Air Blue type.

The old BVM mechanical gear is the only one that fits in this plane. The air blue front retract does not fit sine the air cycliner sits too tall and will hit the intake.

That is correct there is not a lot of room in front for the gear. It really was not mechanical it is air driven.

Sorry, yes, the air cylinder sits rear of the retract and uses a long pushrod to engage the retract arm. I hate to say it....this is the biggest problem with the two F16s that i have built. Almost seems like it would be better to form an intake with a hump ala the YAC and use the air blue gear.

Then get the mechanical twist-n-turn nose + a 3/4" diameter cylinder.

You remote mount the cyclynder further back where there is room and link it to the mechanical nose with a 3/16" diameter soft brass tube soldered to the end of the shaft on one side andgrind the head of a 4-40 socket head screw so it fits inside the brass tube, solder that in and screw on a clevis. All of BVM's gear was done this way before they came out with the dedicated airdriven units with the integrated cylinders. The cylinder mounts to the airframe with a metal bracket and clevis pin which you probably need seperately also.

I will shoot a picture tonight.

I have seen this style of retract on a Yellow F-16 and a Jet legend F-16 also.

BUT with much mod on the steering you can also use the really scale YA F16 nose retract.

regards Martin

The nose gear of the one you have pictured is the exact early BVM F-16 unit.

A few pics of my BVM F-16 nose gear. I also have a Yel F-16. The Yel is a larger unit. This is why Yel needs the hump in the intake. Both very good designs for each models specific application.

The rotating plastic unit shown above will work. The pic of the one on the table is the original early BVM F-16 unit.

The strut on the my BVM F-16 is a Robart.

I have an early version of that retract for BVM F 16. I think the newer version had more metal. If you want a pic let me know.
