Thanks, might as well get two for that price.

but I could use more power if I had the head balanced properly.
It's on my long list of projects.

Remember folks, the whole deal.... the CF frame, belt drive tail, the
super-awesome swashplate, the resilient skids, a nice looking canopy,
and a CP head (when you are ready) ....is only $35.
I understand and it makes perfect sense but I would like to change the electronics on the 9116 and keep the rest of the 9116. I already have a 450 clone to work on next but I just can't start on this until I finish tinkering with the 9116 (which might be never).

I've changed my thoughts on the brushless tail motor/belt drive. I would like to keep my Honey Bee CP3 direct drive brushed motor and use a brushed ESC. I have found one for aprrox $14 shippped. Since I won't need the head speed that the 4500kv motor provides I'm thinking of using a 3500kv motor.

Mdigiovabc, I just read your previous post and checked my Wasp against the 9116 and there is no way that you would be able to use the belt drive. The 9116 frame is just too small to allow any kind of modifications to utilize the belt drive.

Actually, the tail assembly is rather flimsy and too delicate on the Wasp. It's the one thing that I don't like (other than the ugly canopy) on mine. I'm even thinking of getting a HK 250 like Steve's and transferring everything over to it.

It would be a very difficult project making the 9116 electronics work
on a 250 clone, but it could be done. You would need stronger
servos than the stock 9116 units.
I have quite a few spare servos for my 450 lol...I just got a spare scorpion motor looking to get a esc...I seen a nice 250 kit on hk but, I hate to see what the shipping will cost....

It was obviously a little slower, but flew fine, and incredibly
stable. Actually, it was comparable to a modded 9116.

Now imagine how your modded 9116 would perform without the
weight of the battery, and you start to get an idea of what I have
going on here
It is interesting that you can use the swash design of the HK250GT with the 45 deg flybar. When I tried that with the ZR Z101 head everything was 45 deg off. When I pushed forward it went sideways. The 5-10 deg difference in phasing between the 2 heads must be the key. Do you get very accurate direction change ie does the heli follow your controls exactly, as far as on the same axis? dead forward is dead forward without any deviation etc.

More on the fitment of the "feathering shaft" after finally tuning mine to perfection. After installing a slightly tight pin I lost the edge off fast forward flight, plus their was a slight hint of TBE. After fitting the 2.5mm pin I have a firm fit but nicely loose so that there is absolutely no binding. Now the heli wants to fly into the ground on full forward controls like it did previously....awesome.

I did a 7 minute flight this morning that I videoed that will be on my blog later.

Sounds like it is all working, the phasing conundrum remains illusive.

Keen to see your 9116 working with align arms, which length arms work etc.

This mornings vid posted.

I haven't had that happen yet Steve.
Checked all the solder joints?

I'm still trying to work out how to reduce the HB DD tail motor.
Trims at 120% & it still wants more left trim on the Tx.

Lbr, That looks awesome.
What happened when you "lost the tail?"
Wind gust at that height maybe?
