Hello Jason (and other friends of T1), glad to hear you're flying..unfortunately bad weather has continued in Utah with uncomfortable flying conditions...not the least of which involve my enforced participation in holiday preparations! I modified my P-51 with larger carbon strips (1X4mm instead of the tiny stock .5X1.5mm). I razored the old ones out and stuffed the new ones in and glued with flexible 2 hr CA. Tested this experiment with an ill-advised downwind launch with resulting stall into ground...broken GWS but no fuse damage
, adds 10-12 grams of weight which I didn't like but repairs already added weight, so WTH. My brothers Bf-109 came in very tail heavy at recommended c.g. so fliers of this bird be advised, probably go with bigger battery. I am envious of indoor and warm, calm weather fliers.

Wow..Speechless..
Now I know what kind of professionalism your family put into the game; not only the amazing stick skills Joe has, but also the attention to every detail. Can I ask how many hours you spent in building this one? I probably would spend 2 to 3 hours in building a TechOne EPP plane. Comparing to yours mine looks like made by a 9 years-old kid slamming parts together.

Dan, I know, weight is the enemy!!! I did switch to an 8X6 prop and I really like the results I am getting, it may be all in my head but I can cruise at less than 1/2 throttle and the throttle response is alot crispier- is that even a eal word?
anyway I haven't had a fatal crash since switching to the DR Dan prescribed 500mAh battery, thats what I warm up the fingers on and then put in the 1000 mAh batt and I can fly for over 45 minutes on the 3 batteries I have, I tried my 1300mAh battery saturday(after the 500mAh) and the P-51 didn't even notice the extra weight and I got at least 10 minutes out of it and we were flying all kinds of silly!!! |
