Some quick pics of the wing joiner mould, some of the process wing joiners, the steel master, some of the raw material and that kind of thing.
The process joiners will be during the wing layups to position the joiner boxes, and ensure they don't collapse.

Today I cut cloth.

About 1 sq m of 100g biaxial for first laer
about 1sq m of 200g Biaxial for second layer
.6sq m of 300g uni for the cap spars (They need cutting down further but need to think more about this.
Then kevlar for the hinges
1mm Lanor cormat for the tips

Next is peal ply, release film, and make sure my vac bag is still ok, I will need a larger bag for the centre section, so need to make that up.

I need to cut some lanor cormat

Hope to get something in the bag this weekend, at least a set. If I get all of them in the bag I will be a happy camper!!!

We have done a bit in the UK.
In one of the RCM&E's (that I beleve is quite international) there is a picture of a friend who exploded his Aeromacchi at one of our slopes.

Simon Coker one of the uk Scale leaders, does quite a bit with various different models. We have also have Phill cook with his hurricane. First time DSer, and after an hour or so was bringing it out inverted.

Not a bad start
First of 4 halves.

Only one error, I thought I was working on the top and put the hinge onto the wrong side. Not a big issue as I can still put the hinge on the other side. But the only kevlar I have left is much thinner (Only 100g or so). Hey ho.

Will, we've ALL done that. Or put it on the correct side, but then cut the wrong side. You can always just cut it free and hinge with Sikaflex or 3M 5200.

I found some 200g ud kevlar and though "That will be perfect"
It was a bit of pain to cut, but with a bit of spray glue between 2 pieces of plastic, clamped down and pulling, I could cut it with a scalple using a long ruler as a guide.

last night was a pain.
I was doing the second half of the wing tip panel.
The most of it was fine, the process seemed to be working quite well, and my resin mixes seemd to be just enough.

Got her and in the bag and ....... I couldn't get a good seal.

It would get to presure, but then drop too quickly, so when the motor kicked in there was still too much presure and it wouldnt start. In trying it would trip out the thermal couple, and stay off for about 5 minutes. But which time the vac was gone!

Changed the bag, re did the sealing, checked round the pipe, checked round the location holes, changed the bag again, checked all arround again, repeat repeat....
total of 3 bags, for the life of me it wouldn't seal! still don't know why. So at 2am in the morning I had to leave it and get to bed.

Up this morning, and back in the garage to la up the bottom of the center panel.

All seemed to go very well. I tried somthing new that worked very well so I will share.

AS some of you know I like the wet preg technique. in the past the pot has set whilst laying the first couple of pieces. and due the volume in the pot I thought I could have the same problem again. So I wet out the first piece, and covered with plastic, then wet the spars, then the kevlar, in the same way finishing off with the heavy 200g layer. IMHO this meant the resin was well spread so wouldn't exotherm. then started to cut and lay, cut and lay until it was done. 2h later in the bag with a good seal. (Go figure same technique as last night!!!

Center panel top is prepared just need to mix resin and start. Hop to be there at 7 and done by 9, or 2 again if the bag wont seal.

Finding a leak can be a nightmare

I stick a 6mm tube in my ear hole and use it as a stethoscope .... Find your leaks in no time at all ...

Bummer will.
That's really sounds like a pin hole in the centre of the plastic. I've had similar over the years , where something had pin holed the plastic while on the role.
So every time you cut a new piece it's the same for a few wraps.

Good evening, 4th layup in the bag in only 1.5h.
Quite happy that I have managed to get it done.

There is always an air of anticipation from now until popping the moulds
Some things can be seen when taking the peal ply off and seeing that it didn't push down properly or something. Fingers crossed (or holding thumbs for the Safers)

Now on my mind is spars.
standard balsa socked?
End grain balsa like the opus?
End grain Balsa socked or other?
