LOL if I took a photo of the bench behind me then you would not say that. I was moving house so had an empty apartment to make it in.

Found new way to launch my wings this week end.

Found new way to launch my wings this week.

Setup for launch wing.

1) Turn on throttle cut switch.
2) Put throttle to launch setting (Haft stick)
3) Hold wing with left hand @ wing tip (left side)
4) Turn off throttle cut with right hand, keep thumb on Al & Elv. stick.
5) Has power is coming on to motor launch into the wind.

It helps to use a neck strap and with your right hand hold TX to your right side of you body.

We were flying in winds from 20 to 35 MPH
Colby & I would launch go straight up to 300', stop are motors come straight down and land.
1 point for being first down & and 1 point for being closest to landing circle.

Mike, that's how I launch all my wings, except full power, usually a little up elevon and off it goes, backing off throttle in a couple of seconds. Really loud with 3000kv. Gotta get vids this weekend, finished Assassin with 2700kv, and tonight redoing Assassin from Suppo 2212/6 50 gram to RC Timer HP2808 (3530) 1740kv 75 gram http://www.rctimer.com/product_931.html. Should have some video and will show launch. Excited to try 3530 as Don's wicked 2700 has been a blast, again moving motor forward to keep weight down as much as possible.

Dog, planning on 3 cell, not sure what prop yet, have a 7x7 on, but may start with less pitch. Would be great at 4S, trying to avoid the weight. But, have a 1500 mah 4S if the temptation is too great.

Pinata tuning videos. It's getting better, almost there. She flies fine without the FC, just trying to tune the FC in so I get less shaking for footage. I am really liking her so far, flight characteristics + durability = nice stress-free wing .

CTH Pinata tuning flights (3 min 21 sec)

Shane-what kind of numbers is the 3000kv/5x5/3s putting out ?

I have one enrte but I don't know what set-up to use. I was initially against a speed demon on a wing but Rdimand, sr-175, and you have put the demon in me and I have to give it a go. Thinking of using the 3000kv on an assassinator or an assassin? Can a 3s with the right prop come close to the performance of the 4s? Thoughts?

Shane, curious about the 2200 A spec, worth the $$ vs nano?? Like the lighter weight. My 3000kv 28-36s are amp hogs with 6x4 (summer) and 6x5 (winter), can heat up and puff a 2600 60C when pushing. 2 weeks ago had a Value Hobby 2600 60C swell up and break plastic wrap, motor only a little warm (yes, have a fore extinguisher). Still pulls 65-70A on wattmeter, I have backed off on throttle except when I need it. Love this monster motor, but still think too much for Assassin, was perfect in my Assassinator.

The 2700kv isn't quite the amp hog or monster, rated 5A less by HK, and may be better suited for Assassin. After reading Lee's posts, 3530 was the next jump for me on Assassin, NTM 28-36 2700kv may be next to try, these are a little heavier than the 70 gram series of motors; Grayson Super Mega Jet, 2550kv and 70 grams looks good, but pricey. Don's Wicked 2700 70gram is superb, both very fast and quick in my 21.5 oz. Assassin 2, but now listed as discontinued on Don's site.

At this point with Assassins, finding the 50 gram motors a little weak, the 70 gram higher kv (?about 28mmx30mm) a perfect balance, excited about 3530 but bigger diameter required mounting creativity, and holding off the 90 grams amp hogs. As Dog mentioned, 3530 on 4 cell may be an easy way for "more" and reminds me of paraphrased old quote: "speed comes from volts, not amps"
