Spring Air / retracts.com

Hi

Does anyone know the status of Spring Air? Tried sending them an email but not getting any response, looking to order some retracts for my Viggen...

Just call them. Or order what you need from their website.
They are good people.

Good people

Bill and Ivy don't respond to e-mails.
They just sit in their IN box.
Bill would rather be out in the machine shop building product than answering e-mail.
They as Robert just said - good people.
Give them a call.

I also sent an email, and have called 321-728-900 at all different times this week, with no answer...

http://www.retracts.com/

I have two of three 302 retracts in an F7F Tigercat that I bought used, that have leaky cylinders, and wanting to know if they can be repaired, fixed, replaced, etc without having to buy all new units.....

I'm sure the days of air retracts are numbered, much like nitro engines.
There is a better mouse trap available called electric servoless retracts. I will never go back to an air system now.

You'll say that until one of your retract units burns up in up position, making for a pretty interresting landing. Or worse - catches fire and burns up your plane. Air retracts all the way here, and SpringAir with its natural failsafe has always been my go to retract.

I got hold of a set directly from Spring Air, my local vendor have stopped to carry them unfortunately.

Catching fire? Really, has that ever happened?
I'll stick with my prediction....

Not to rain on anyone's parade- but I personally like air . I've got Rhoms. Robarts and Spring Airs-- and with several Y/A kits coming, all have the F./K air-up/down .

Sure, electrics maybe more scale action than air , but I have followed John Morgans builds-- he won't use anything but air-- for dependability.

You do realize that the leg and wheel must not be impacting the retract or wheel well when retracted?
If the leg is jammed in the up position, there may not be enough torque to get the gear leg moving down. No issues at all with our landing gear and every plane has plenty of cycles. On one of the early versions with plastic trunions, the down lock was broken in a strong crosswind, but the new metal trunions are very strong.
Cheers
