Of the original series of Star Trek, 'The Trouble With Tribbles' was one I enjoyed.

Also around that time, one of the DIY electronics magazines was showing details of a 'communicator' that made that wonderful sound when you flipped the lid open, (of course that's all it could do).
At work we couldn't open a door without going "shhhhhh" as we opened it, yes we were all Star Trek nuts.

Same with me but I also am a big fan of Stargate and Stargate Atlantis as well.

I feels almost like family to talk with Trekkie's.

by the way, a former student of mine, Terry Rioux, recently wrote a biography of DeForrest Kelley, SAWDUST TO STARDUST. A great read.

'City on the Edge of Forever' is probably my favorite original episode.

Edith Keeler was pretty hot, for a soup kitchen boss, and Spock making the tricorder able to play back bits of future history--using nothing but 'stone knives and bearskins' (and a few vacuum tubes and wires) was nothing short of phenomenal.

The Talking Cosmic Doughnut-Thing was kinda cool too.

The original series and TnG, were my favorites.

Deep Space 9 seemed like Trek Lite to me, I liked it but ...ehh?

I forgot the titles to the episodes, but of the original series, the one where Spock gets sprayed with the Happy Daffodil and is hanging by his knees from the tree limb, "I like it here on Tau Ceti III Jim" the one about the Hortas " "NO KILL I",, "I'm a Doctor not a brick mason.."

There were very few TnG episodes I didn't like. but the double episode Borg and the one two parter about Data's head being found at an archaeological dig in San Fransisco, were both great story telling.

The present Dr Who series and the Dresden Files are pretty good.

Trek

A friend of mine (and a SERIOUS) Trekkie decided once there were only a few essential elements to make a Star Trek episode. (original series)
There is an alien female-and Kirk gets involved
At some point Spock says:"fascinating!"
At some point Doctor McCoy says "Damn it! I'm a doctor not a ____!"

It is bad enough explaining the model airplane hobby to the world around you. That combined with "star trek" and the use of the internet pushes you off the edge..
I am thinking for the first time that a "sock puppet" would be a good idea. A post made in your own name on a "model airplane" forum to your pals... about star trek is something people could blackmail you with.

On a different note Any episode with Harry Mudd .. "Harcourt Fenton Mudd... you've been DRINKING!!!!"
Is a favorite of mine.

and my favorite character of all time was Commander Pike

Kee-ripes Jim, you worry too much!

Star Trek was a pretty popular show, there's no stigma attached to being a fan. Being a old Dr, Who enthusiast might get a snigger or three, but for the most part, and in my mind, ST had a lot of universal appeal.

I like the serieses (what is the plural of series?) because I like sci-fi, but in my mind none of them compare to "The Wrath Of Kahn".

KAAAAAHHHHNNNN!!!

One of the best written movies I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Close, imho to Shakespeare.

And you can't tell me Ricardo Montalban didn't totally enjoy that outfit of his.

"For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee."

Looks like I need to get me a DVD version. If only the sound wasn't so amazingly bad.

I donít consider myself a trekkie but I do enjoy them except DS9; I couldnít get into it.

The series I like is the new BSG. I think itís well done and especially the spacecraft donít fly like airplanes.
