DeWalt 24V Gearbox Build
I recently ordered the 24VDC DeWalt hammerdrill motor as seen on at least one robotics site. Their specs show it at 2HP and 20K rpm free. I ordered mine from a local tool repair service on Monday and had it on my doorstep Tuesday. With tax and shipping it came to $71.80. Since this will be used on a fully submerged prop I am designing around a 2:1 reduction box. The press fit gear on the shaft was determined to be a 32 Dia pitch, 14 1/2 degree gear. Going to my favorite supplier of gears with whom I've had a relationship going back a good fifteen years, Stock Drive Products, I found a brass gear with hub #A 1B 2-N32040 of 40 teeth with a 1/4inch bore. The motor gear is 19 teeth. This will give just over the desired ratio. The shaft will be here by the end of the week and the bearings will come from Boca. I will report back with photos and such when the project is complete.

What are you going to use the motor in? Prop size and such.

Building a 1/6th scale Baby Bootlegger. Haven't determined prop size yet as I didn't realize the Prop Shop had gone under and I haven't had time to research all of the new prop manufacturers.
