I am very seriously considering this frame... but how can it possibly turn into a hexa?

The only thing holding me back from buying, is the lack of spare parts, I dont want a new frame as spare parts

So today I had a very uneventful and successful maiden flight. Very smooth in the air, even with default YS-X6 settings and no expo on the radio. Gave a feeling of being in control even on the maiden flight.

jab are you using flashed esc's with these motors?

if so have you noticed any issues with the timing getting messed up???

Yes, ESC's are flashed with SimonK. No problems so far. Only thing I have noticed is that because of the big 15" propellers the motors will stutter a little if you are to gentle with the throttle when spinning up the propellers.

I had a few good flights with my MT 4008's and then it crashed again and again...

the simonk firmware does not play well with these large disk motors.

here is a test you can do to see if you will be effected.

take a prop off and hook the esc to a separate receiver, then jam your throtle up and down really quick... make fast crazy motions with the throttle stick... if it makes a strange noise, squeels, or stops completely then DO NOT FLY anymore!

There is a firmware that is wiiesc you can flash instead but it has issues too..

Ahh.. Rapid throttle squealing from wrong ESC timing. Yes I know about that from flying 3D airplanes, but did not hear anything like that. In the video you will see that I climbed at full throttle, and punched the throttle to test. After filming I flew more aggressively and also did longer climbs without any squeals. The CF 15" props are very light weight (14g), so they are easy to spin.

jab that's great... I know it would take a few minutes but I am about to purchase 6 of these motors and if you can do that test with the prop off I describe above... it will give me confidence in my purchase.

also can you tell me if you are running 6S?

I have already done bench tests with the propeller attached on a single arm. No problem with timing during those tests, but I am using 4S and 490kv motors. You will probably want the 390kv motor for 6S.

ok great and good to know... the thicker can must be the difference....

The reason I say to do it with prop off is becuase if it does not miss timing prop off then it definately won't miss with prop on...

and mine flew great for about 5 flights then it started happening right after I did a load test... now the bird is grounded!!

I am looking to get about 2.0kg max thrust or maybe 1.8kg so I will have to review their charts.... and guess what they heck they say
