BAE Hawk glow DF to electric

I think it is a nitroplanes.com Bae hawk but I am not sure.
http://www.nitroplanes.com/redardftu7al.html
One of the my friend gave me the plane. It has a dynamax glow fan.
I planned to replace with jetfan 120 and het 800 590 kv motor 12 S. I think it will be over power. But inlet suitıble this fan.

By the way I couldnt remove the dynamax rotor. I heated it but didnt work. I dont need glow motor and shroud I can use only rotor in the future. For this reason I think to cut glow motor and shroud. Does any body have any suggestions?

Before you get to far along-- if your thinking of the jetfan 120m make sure you have an exit dia on tailpipe of at least 100 mm, 105mm is preferred. T

What pray tell did you heat?

Remove the allen head bolt, pop off the spinner, removed the nut then use a puller to pop the rotor off.

Thank you I checked exit diameter thrust tube 95 mm but I can do it 100 mm or more. Tailpipe is suitıble for jet fan 120. I have a jetfan 120 as redundant.
But this plane will be 5 kg but jetfan 120 thrust is 7-8kg.

I heated allen bolt in spinner because I couldnt remove this bolt. I couldnt immobilized the rotor with my hand. Otherwise Either rotor will cut my hand or rotor will be broken. I can sacrifice engine and shroud to save rotor. Because I want to use dynamax rotor with hayoe 5 inch shroud.

I had a dynamax fan a few years back, I just made the PROPER tool to hold the rotor , very easy to do.

Scroll down just a bit, you;ll see what it looks like-- http://www.jetmodelproducts.com/dynamax.htm

What is the w/span ? I doubt you will be overpowered, with this size models you never are unless you build them out of foam. What do you expect to be AUW? This is my highly modified 72" IC one I converted to 2meter span to reduce the heavy w/loading. Much nicer flying model now.

Jofro, very nice plane. Mine is very ugly yet. Thank you the idea. I also can modify my wing like yours. I alredy removed wing covering film and I will do epoxyglass. I will paint completely.

This plane weight (with glow turbax 5 inch fan) is 4.5-5 kg. but with my electric setup maybe it will be 5.5kg. I had thought to fly it wiht 90 mm jetfan and 12 S. I believe She fly very vell with jetfan 90 . But planes inlet and ducts are very large. 120 mm more convenient.

I tried my jet fan 120 het 800 and 5000mah Gens age 12 S lipo thrust was more than 8 kg.
But If I modify it plane weight increase.

Your jet is a old AMD/Jet Hanger Hobbies hawk. Search here on RCG and you can find a lot of info on converting to epower.

Nothing ugly about your model, looks great to me but what's the span? Sorry, but you must be dreaming thinking of 5.5kg AUW. Some of my 'FF' 90mm foamies are that weight, how did you work out that figure with 5" fan, 12S power and even fibreglassing wings? Just looking a it I would say easy 8kg + range.

Yes this plane is AMD hawk. Jofro I think your plane is bigger than mine. Wing spane only140 cm.
I will go with JF 120. Because hawk has nice big intakes with rounded lips and large exhaust.
I have a Cermark F16 converted JF 90mm EDF . It is bigger and maybe heavier my hawk. Last week it flew with 90 mm EDF. But cermark inlet is narrow.

The Jetfan 120 will fly great in this plane. You could use the 90mm to make it lite weight and that is a good idea for this airframe. You will want to add the wing fences also to help with tipstall..
