Be thankful you were in the car, otherwise she may have just driven away and never told you!

Leave the damage, cash the check and buy a new airplane

I'm still checking in from time to time. Sorry to hear of the sicknesses and Wayne's dog. Work has me hopping and the snow and cold are keeping me grounded and at home. I'll start shooting in a 3D archery league next week and that will give me something to do.

OK, I had to look that up. There are some of those "animals" in the woods behind my house. I guess that was for practice or something.

The Big Stick is about a day from being done. We have been flying helicopters while waiting for epoxy to set. Cool and really humid and the glue is taking a long time.

The skies cleared some this evening so I got my telescope out. I am trying to get everything ready for astrophotography. I am going to visit my brother next week so I am planning a start gazing evening. I have some new equipment and the setup is taking some time since I have never done most of it before.

There is also an indoor fly at a roller rink there. My brother likes to watch that. I am taking some stuff to fly there so we will see how that goes. I have never flown at an indoor deal. I will enjoy being with my brother but that indoor stuff won't be a habit with me. I like being outside.

The 50CC has a new wheel. I don't know if I will get a chance to fly it before I leave. The current forecasts are not good.

We've got fog so thick I can't see the end of my driveway...and the blower motor on my furnace took a dump last night...the furnace is 30 years old, and we already started looking at a new furnace last year, so we may have to go ahead with that now...I don't think replacing a blower motor on a 30yr old system is a good plan. There goes my airplane money for this spring
Temps are in the 40's right now, but will go back to the 20's in a few days; hope I can get the furnace repaired/replaced quickly!
:O

MATH TEST And FUNCTION in Excel 2007 Question

I figure i come to this place and find out any answer to pretty much anything so Here is a doozy thats been driving me out of my Mind for Days
We have a computer that by putting a box on a scale reads how many pounds the box is then charges the correct price for the weight. I designed (Well Discovered) the correct formula to work for this system, Well they want to change it and I can't get a newer formula to work
here is the original formula which goes in Cell D1
=IF(A1>10,(A1-10)*(0.15)+B1,4.10)

The Cell A1 is open to type in any number you want
The Cell B-1 contains the constant number $4.10
The Cell C1 is just a space between the numbers and the total in D1

So to try this out to make sure the function is working, Put the formula in D1 and put 4.10 in B1 then type in any number in A1 the total will appear in D1
A1 B1 C1 D1
11 $4.10 $4.25

The problem
After 35Lbs we need the formula to repeat itself, and then 70lbs then 105lbs Etc
So I would think something like this (Note the bold print)
=IF(A1>10,(A1-10)*(0.15)+B1,4.10),IF(A1>35,(A1-10)*(0.15)+B1,4.10)*2

well this is not the answer

When the formula works it should look like this:
for the 1st 10 Lbs the cost is $4.10
Then every additional lb after 10lbs is $0.15 more
35lbs should cost $7.85
36-70lbs should cost $15.70
71-105lbs should cost $23.55

If anyone knows anything about this HELLLLLLLLPPPPPP I'm losing valuable hair here I've been to the excel help sites and can't find what i'm looking for and then it hit me
The T_ _ _taholics Love a good challenge

Waldo it doesn't look like you are far off. Let me chew on it for a few minutes.

edit: One thing I can tell right away is that your first if statement has been completely closed with a ")" before you start the second logical test. For a nested If to work correctly you have to leave that open. Delete the closing parenthesis and you will be closer to your goal.

Waldo, I need some clarification... is it a flat rate all the way from 36-70 pounds or does it increase incrementally up to the 23.55 spot at 71 pounds? I have a formula working up to the 35 pound mark but I'm just uncertain about the logic you are trying for from there. I'm going to continue to work on it based on the idea that increases per pound.

36-70lbs should cost $15.70
71-105lbs should cost $23.55
Question:
How much does 11-34 pounds cost?

Should the desired solution read as follows?

for the 1st 10 Lbs the cost is $4.10
11-35lbs should cost $7.85
36-70lbs should cost $15.70
71-105lbs should cost $23.55

or should it be this:
for the 1st 10 Lbs the cost is $4.10
Then every additional lb after 10lbs is $0.15 more
11lbs should cost $4.25
12lbs should cost $4.40
30lbs should cost $4.10 * (20 * $0.15) = $7.10
....etc...
35lbs should cost $7.85
36-70lbs should cost $15.70
71-105lbs should cost $23.55

what should be the charge for 55lbs?
is there any upper limit on weight?

Then after 35lbs they want the formula to repeat itself
so 36 lbs would start the formula all over again, so by the time you got to 70Lbs the total would double.
every 35lbs to infinity they want the formula to start over again.

My contest entry is attached.

If you don't have Office 2010 (and therefore support for .xlsx files) let me know and I will convert it to a standard .xls file.

That was fun!

I just submitted my nested IF function that is all in one cell.

=IF(A1<=10,B1,IF(A1<=35,(A1-10)*0.15+B1,IF(A1<=70,(A1-35)*0.15+15.7,IF(A1<=105,(A1-70)*0.15+23.55))))
