Yes life batteries are a good choice. I use the 1400/1500 ma version and it fits the battery box.

I'm sure the 1800 will as well because that's it's purpose.
The chemistry seems to be perfect for replacing nicads and not messing with the tx low battery alarm settings.
So far I'm very happy with my LiFe battery.

that battery works fine. remember that lower voltaje can trigger low voltage alarm on the radio. that's all.
im working with this one:

it last for about 2 months of normal use between charges (simulator+radio). and is not puffed yet.

What voltage do you let that lipo get to before recharging? Right now I have mine set at 10.5 just to protect the lipo. Have no idea if it can go lower

I'm afraid it will not fit into the battery compartment with

Dimensions: 100mm x 27mm x 33mm
as the battery holder is 105mm x 30mm x 30mm only and has a tight fit already.

Same here. It's a snug fit but not too tight. Doesn't need foam to keep it from moving around like the 1500.

LiPos can get as low a 3.0V per cell, but, it's better to charge the battery when cell get 3.3V. remember always to balance battery after charging.

Now, they get the bright idea to crank out another one just when I decided to order mine. Great!

I helped that rumor with a post after reading about the possibility on another thread. I did email FlySky that question since they make all the radios but no answer yet. There is no proof to back this rumor so I'm guilty of spreading it also.
What has me worried however is the sudden variations of CPU boards in the radios. Many are reporting getting the older boards with the programming pad error. Why so many old boards and alternate antenna locations all of a sudden?
Supplies drying up maybe?
Here is a "fact", there will be plenty of 9Xs at over $100 for some time to come.
Our concern is a under $80 supply
