Turbo Ace 830-D newbie (77years old) need help

rHope I am posting in the right forum. I just received my Turbo Ace 830-D and has
been flown once by a professional RC pilot. All went well, so today I thought I would
give it a try by myself. I have some experience flying small fixed pitch, coaxial and
AR Drone, not good at all, but able to get the them in the air. First thing I noticed
when I tried to bind, first turned the TX on then when I plugged the Quad in I could
hear and see a small spark at the plug. Then I went I tried to bind all I got was
blinking yellow light on the Naza GPS controller. Anyone be willing to help me get
this thing off the ground? Thanks in advance.

P.S I got the beeps and the props jerked, but the blinking yellow light was it.

Maybe go back to the guy you brought it off and get him to show you around a bit

Bought from WOW hobbies

Support from them is basically out of the question. WOW hobbies support is via
email, which is too slow and not that helpful. Thanks for your reply.

Did you arm the Naza by pulling both sticks to bottom and together momentarily? You really should start with the Naza manual. It's a great flight controller but requires proper setup.

yes I did that, but the spark at the battery plug worries me. I don't think it should
do that. First flight went well. It was RTF from WOW Hobbies. Thanks

The spark is normal, especially with Deans. You could switch them with HXT connectors which will contain the spark.

Your LHS will not likely have HXT but EC3 would accomplish the same goal and they'll have those.

Back from church, so back to discussion. I am not that worried about the spark if
that is normal, just that the motors won't start after everything is plugged up.
Being new to the setup is not helping. TX is setup to push switches down and to
the left corner to start motors. I'll do more research and maybe I can figure it out
by myself. Thanks

If you have a fast blinking yellow light, the Naza is probably in fail safe mode. Have you bound your controller to the receiver?

It is RTF from WOW hobbies, so everything was ready to go. My friend at the
local shop flew it out of the box the first time. Short flight, but everything went
well. Leads me to believe it is setup right, but my limited knowledge is the problem
for now. Just bugs me that it so simple to bind and I can't do it. Would not think
that anything went wrong during the first flight since no crash occurred.

A few things to check:

Did you turn on the controller before plugging in the battery?

Does the yellow light blink fast and continuous or only once every few seconds?

Are any switches on the controller in non-standard positions?

yes I turned the controller on, then plugged the battery in, then put the TX switches
down and to the left corner and appears to bind, so let off switches and within 2
seconds put the throttle to 10%, but all I get is the rapidly blinking light on the
GPS. All TX switches are normal. Thanks for your interest.
