"H-29 MicroJet Edition"

I've been out the hobby for about 5 years and switched to helicopters maybe a year before that. I decided to break out my Airwolf and had an epic movie style crash during a high banked FFF turn. Guess I should'nt have been humming that theme, but it's impossible not to flying a "Lady".

Wattflyer was nice enough to archive the 8 year old plans to my favorite pocketjet. I lost the newer plans on a failed hard drive years ago but "rev3" is better than starting from scratch.
With some found new old parts and 4 sheets of black Dollar Tree foamboard and after watching too many Flite Test YouTube videos, I cant help that either, they're like the Top Gear of RC flying, I set off to modernized the build process and look of the plane using a KFm-2 wing. I hear angles are all the rage in Italian automobile, and stealth, design currently.

And: Here we Go! I don't like saying inanimate objects are "sexy" but, it is.

Parts list:
  • FC28-22 rewound to put out 260w,
  • 2 HXT500s to start, may strip the helicopter's HXT900 servo if they're good as it's totaled,
  • 30amp SS ESC, or Thunderbird 36 again because totaled,
  • Rhino 25c 1550, charged and tested good,
  • Turnagy SGS 5x5 prop, because they're awesome,
  • Ar6100, bought a 4ch RX for the plane but again, totaled.

Finalized Plans. It should fix a few of the issues.

A few notes:
  • The verticals need a bassword, or at least bamboo, support from wing to horizontal.
  • The firewall goes through part of the NACA duct. Trim the foam flush and it will fit and still remain "functional".
  • The nose is going to be a pain in the backside to glue.
  • The battery hatch should be near the wings extended LE.
  • If using flaps/elevons make the elevon control horns longer that usual as they get LOTS of travel.
  • Expo! Lots of expo!
  • Both F-18 and F-15 decals from 6mmRC fit printed at 57%.

Combination of sharpie and sticker job before maiden. Looks mostly the same after.
HXT500s are too weak and motor firewall loosened. Wil fix both and go at it again.

The plane wasn't unique enough, nor did it have enough wing loading, kidding, It has plenty of wing loading!, so I put the HXT500s back in for the ailerons. And with some fancy mixing we have flaperons and elevon mixing.

H-29 MJE Flaperon/Elevon Mixing. (0 min 50 sec)


I also figured out this is basically a flying wing with a fuselage and extended tail, so I moved the hatch to a more suitable location.

Nicely done and much thanks fr4nk1yn! I always wanted one of your "micro-jet" inspired H-29's! Looks like I'm going to have one now... Thanks man! And welcome back! I mostly fly slope now, so I understand how one facet of the hobby can take a precedence! Glad you're still flying something with stationary wings once in a while lol!

Glad you like it.
I honestly don't like helicopter flying that much, I too worried about the crashing.

I built my plane too heavy to it's not slowing down and needs to get on step fast, maybe something to do with those 6 glue sticks. Also the KFm wing is working working against me as it's almost too fast for my field but I wanted fast by design.

It's a really easy build though especially with elevons only and looks great.
