I think the main reason for the initial F-45 rave reviews was because it was one of the
first completely self-leveling 4ch 300 size fixed pitch helicopter for under $100.
It got many people into FP's that would otherwise still be flying toy coax birds.
Going from a cheap coax to an F-45 is quite a jump in performance. That would explain
the enthusiastic response from many owners.
Around that same time there was the Madhawk from Exceed RC, but it was more of a
hobby grade helicopter with metal head components and was expensive to crash.
A replacement head was $50, as much as a CP head.
The Esky Honey Bee FP was cheap and an excellent performer, but it was not self-leveling
and was much harder to fly than an F-45.
