If you can make the plane out of some good quality 1.3 or 1.9 epo then this thing will sell itself.

Is there an time estimate on the 90mm kit only?

Regards

YES, I have been concerned this thread.

About landing gear, I think I should take some pictures after holiday. it is a very simple question.

Of course in the future I would try to do better. Because I can't make perfect F - 18.

If you know. Four years in the past, this is my fourth F - 18, if you have purchased before or a concern. You will know that I have been trying to make better. I'm sure you'd agree with my efforts.

With regard to price, concerning the quality is a difficult balance things.

I'm not a really businessman. I'm just a guys who is doing to realize the dream

I love F - 18

Believe in the near future you will see a 90MM F - 18

Landing gear including doors are automatic operation, the factory has been installed at all.

I have a basement full of ANDY CHEN designed planes.....gonna need the 90mm F18 too. Can't wait.

The correct term is "negative camber". That's what I'll be adding to my main gear struts for a for better scale appearance & a more stable track.

Bajora...Congrats on the successful maiden & following flights, keep the pics & videos coming!

Oh, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
Hi, anybody who has the plane already, is it possible to adjust to positive chamber on the stock retracts? If you're going to mod the landing gear stance making it wider to make it more scale, wouldn't you want positive camber on the wheels to get the wheel sitting vertical when is under load?

Bajora,

Thank you for the excellent preview of this long awaited F-18. Working retracts and trailing links! Amazing. Mr. Chen, you have trumped the industry.

Now, just some questions for Bajora,

What process did you use for removing the gray and red paint from the mating surfaces at the glued joints? (wings, stabs, and fins to fuse)

Does the paint sand off easily, or is there a solvent that can be used?

Just asking because I assembled a Nitro/MaxJet F-18 and the rubbery paint was a 2 hour PITA to remove by sanding, slicing, and peeling.

What adhesive did you use to attach the wings?

Thanks in advance!

Jim

Jim, I used a emery board type of abrasive stick to sand the mating surfaces, much like your wife uses on her nails? (Trust me ... don't grab hers, go to the beauty supply and get your own!) I thought it came off pretty easily. I used five minute epoxy to attach the wings, vertical stabs and horizontal stabs. I did not think there was a complete coat of the paint on most of the mating surfaces ... as this photo of the verticals shows? Almost like they tried to avoid painting the mating surfaces in production? I poked wee holes in the wing and fuselage roots, into which the epoxy could ooze.

Does anyone think they will add flaps or slats to theirs?

I thought about that, but every F-18 I've flown comes in stable, and relatively slow. It would be too much of a hastle to make it worth while for me. It would look cool though.

As mentioned, this one is already SO light and slows so nicely ...

I just went out and weighed mine:

34 ounces for the airframe + 8.5 ounces for the 4S 2250s I flew in it = 42.5 ounces AUW

Bajora, what would you say your flight times are on the 2200's? I only got 3:30-4:00 minutes on the Mig-15 using 2200's. I went up to 2650's and got more power and close to a minute more flight time with just a slight increase in weight. If there's room I want to try some 3600's with a sapac MB-1 combo (1000 watts baby!)

Bajora, I plan to make mine a 5S set-up. In your observation, is fitting a 3300 5S pack possible? It looks like it would be if the little tabs of foam are carved away in the battery bay. Also, would it be possible to actually balance the jet with a 5S pack even when moved as far aft as possible? You wouldn't have a 5S pack to try balancing the jet with, would you?
