The problem with your budget is the goggles. Goggles run $300 or so. Everything else is pretty cheap.

Get a 100mW FatShark 5.8GHz VTX and a set of FatShark Goggles and a decent camera. Put that on a airplane you already own.

That's a good way to spend your $400 budget.

Cheers for the pointer, Alex - but the cam only has 3 wires - red/black/white. So no built-in audio.........

Right. There is just no mic on your cam. So red black are obvious and white is ou video signal

Hm, well is the voltage changing or is it constant? Sometimes a multimeter
will be good enough to catch some of the voltage swings of the signal.

Warm is fine, hot is bad.

Do you HAVE to use a patch antenna as part of the equation? I expected that the booster would simply add omnidirectional range to my 2.4tx. I was also under the impression that patch antennas are pretty narrow field and as such have to be pointed to the rx in order to be effective.

An omni is fine. I have an amp on my DX8. I've flown over 2 miles and have a solid link. I even use the small 3 dbi omni on the Tx.

Couldn't see variation - and the avo shows two decimal places. I'm coming to the conclusion it is dead. Ho hum!

Yes, the Wii is normally connected to those inputs; and I've even been remembering to change the source to 'Game'.
