Thanks seeingeyegod. The Hellcat is scratch built from my own plans, balsa and ply construction with a glass cowl and a few vac formed accessories. All the pertinent details below.

1/8 scale - 64 1/4" span
OS .91FX
Robart retracts
11 3/4 pounds RTF
fiberglass and epoxy finish, painted with dope and Perfect Paint

Flies very nicely. I like it so much in fact that I've started a 1/6 scale version, 86 inches. Here are a couple more of Joe's pics. Joe has a camera with a lens that resembles a cannon!

wow, really impressive scratch build! Nice dummy engine in there too almost looks like a real radial from that last shot.

if it wasnt for the pilot bust id call shenanigans on that being a model WOW

Elios, I'm going to focus on increasing the realism of the pilot in my next build. I too find the rather rigid and un-lifelike appearance to be a bit discouraging. I still prefer it to an empty cockpit though!

I wonder has anyone connected a swiveling head to the rudder control so the pilot looks left when taxiing left etc? Just a random thought from an engineer

i have seen this done on full figure pilot models in Cubs be for even one that had stick movements too

I've seen this done many times OzyDave. There is at least one particularly well done example right here on RC Groups by master modeler and all around good guy Sean McHale. See the linky below. And thanks for the compliment.
