Small FLIR camera options?

So does anyone have any info on a small FLIR camera? I see several out there for $1200 or so that are a monocle type and have video out. Granted, not sure how good they are but figure getting just a bare camera without a built in display should make it cheaper right?

For example;

Oh, and several on here;

I see some removed from BMW's but they are really expensive as well.

Or this one, with NTSC or PAL RCA output.

You have the FLIR "Tau" series of cameras, which have been used on RC models before.

Thanks Patrick but I think I have decided to try and locate one pulled from a parted out BMW. Seem to be pretty good quality and the price is better.

Hi Techspy,
I have a BMW camera if you're interested, however they are not the same product as the FLIR PathFindIR.
The BMW camera needs to be coded to a BMW controller in order to output video whereas the PathFindIR just needs power and video hooked up.
There's a PathFindIR on ebay right now, I'd buy it myself but it requires an export license to get it out of the US and it would be less hassle for me to just buy one this side of the Atlantic.
Ebay item number for the one currently for sale is #261050282615

Hmm, thanks for the info. Let me do some research on hacking the BMW to output composite video.

the problem with the pathfinder is it is really wide FOV and low resolution...

the Tau series has the interchangable lenses to get the right FOV for the Alt you are flying at.

the price is a lot more but i dont think a backup camera is really not going to give you good results.

interested in seeing what you come up with.

I have been interested in something similar

The pathfinder is actually 640x480 which is pretty high resolution for FLIR.
