GWS P-38 BL2208 question

Will the BL2208 (the ones they sell it with) power the GWS p-38 ok?

What size speed controls will I need to fly it?

Hi Dave,

This is the link regarding 2208 motor for your reference.

You have to apply two pieces of ESC15A at least, ESC25A's work
much better than 15A ones.

GWS P-38 BL2208 question

We have been flying the P-38 with the stock brushless motors since the kit first came out. Our flying field is at 8,000 ft here in Gunnison, CO.

Used the stock motors, two GWS 25A speed controllers and a 2200mah 11.1V li-poly battery. The P-38 balances perfectly with the 2200 battery.

Set it up with 10 x 8 counter rotating props. It will do outside loops with the 2208 motors.

The P-38 is my favorite of the GWS kits and I fly it the more than any of my planes.

I'm tempted to get another. I miss my old one. Depending on if my woman wants to stay in Ft Collins, that will be where I'll be flying.

In what way do the ESC25A's work better than the 15A units? I have the 25A units and they weigh considerably more.

Hi Cliffh,

Sorry for my late reply, the ESC25A works safer than ESC15A especially when the prop hit something hard and you forgot to throttle it down.

Hi 1flyguy,

If you mean the 3-blade prop that fits this fighter, yes, we have EP1060x3, EP9050x3 and HD8040x3 available.

Hi Flyguy,

Sorry, I did not try other props on it so far.
It's good to use HD8040x3 on this motor with 3S (11.1V) 20C lipo. You need good throttle management if you would like to use EP9050x3 instead, same 3S. While it's ok to use HD1060x3 on it with 2S (7.4V) 20C lipo.

Better NOT to apply WOT too long or too often if you have to use EP9050x3 with 3S or EP1060X3 with 2S.

Another one.

Just glued in the GWS sticks holding the GWS gearboxes.

Suppo H2217-4 3500 kv 4.5 to 1 gear boxes using APC E 8 x 6 or 9 x 6 counter rotating props. Thrust is double stated..........Flying time at WOT is 1/2 time posted.

20 mm cannon shells will catch the other guy.

got two new motors today, one was fine the other one didn't even move and was full of crushed magnet and two of the magnet were losses. I didn't even plug them to the esc. Now I see what people are saying about QA at GWS

I had enough problems with GWS motors during the good days of GWS & the USA.

I have had very good luck with Suppo motors, GWS gearboxes, APC E props.
