Help me build a Tri copter?

I have chosen a tri copter to have a Y setup and the 2 front can collapse and it would be cheaper? and better on runs times? and have that yaw action.

I am trying to decide on building a tricoper or building a 450 heli, the main issue is wind, right now its about 20mph.

How much would it be to build one? I already have a radio and transmitter, even some lipos 3s 1000mah 20c 3s 20c 5000mah 2s 50c? 6000mah.
I do like to use hobby king

I already have 1
and a esc for it, but I don't know if it will be enough.
I probably wont be able to make my own frame :/ ( I don't know here to get thin and stong wood, and not sure about 1/2" square, and screws and nuts I have no idea)

I have some servos, but none are MG.
Have some props 8x4.7 (I think) all puller props (not sure what kind of props are needed)

I would need to be kinda big?
good in heavy wind.

I think I may go for a quad copter.
I was watching a little blade Nano QX fly in some good wind, and a ladybird v2 fly around, and I cant find any cheap tricopter frame XD and a quad would be more stable?

Things I have found so far.

260000006 - F330 Glass Fiber Mini Quadcopter Frame 3.. $9.30 193
D2208-17-1100 - D822/17 Brushless Outrunner 1100kv (US .. $36.92 276
9329000021 - Slow Fly Electric Prop 8045R (4 pc - Gre.. $5.20 70
9329000020 - Slow Fly Electric Prop 8045 SF (4 pc - G.. $4.84 70
TOTAL: $56.26 609g

I'll probably end up getting 3 frames just for backups maybe more blades, not sure.

But now im lost at what esc and contoller board to get :/
and am I missing anything? minus TX and RX

and for batteries, I was thinking of running my 3s 1000mah 20c in parallel, and flying easy, till I learn a good amount (each motor can draw up to 10 amp, + controller board and receiver)

It would also be cool if I could so some flips n whatnot.

Would I be better off in the scratch build forum? I would have thought to of gotten a few replies by now. (I see many active threads here, but not so much about custom builds)

Yeah simplecopter.com is the most popular one.... they are a bit cheaper than a quad one less motor and esc to worry about.

here is a previous link too: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1921770

I just finished building one myself It's a good build only took me a couple days once I had everything.

Whats up with people putting this simonK stuff on their esc?

Is it really needed?
cant I just choose out
4 esc
4 motor
HK MR 3.0? (kk 2.1.5 not in the usa, I figure I get it working with that and find out if I want it later, and different blades etc)
1 lipo
1 receiver
1 transmitter
out of random?
and in that quick little list, am I missing anything? (still not sure if im going for tri or quad)
