Build Log
MiG 19 ----- 90mm composite

Finally got started on this bird, my first Commie jet. Doing a glass fuse, J Morgan style build.

Big chunk of foam, a sanding stick and about an hour later I've got a good start with the front half template sections done.

Although I'm calling this the "MiG 19 build", it's gonna be done up as a Shenyang J-6. I have the color scheme picked out already, I'll see if I can find the pic and post it.

That's the only drawback to working with foam, the damned mess it makes. My shop is a toxic foam waste dump!
Going to be a great build Julian, watching with interest.

Thanks guys, been wanting to do this one for a while.
The extreme wing sweep and Batmobile exhaust are just too cool.

What size? ...big ...maybe too big for a 90.
The fuse itself is 56" (62" nose to fin) and a wingspan of 45". I can keep the scale intake at this size as it is large than the FSA.
This one will be plenty big enough to have retracts and handle our grass field.

Using an HET fan and Typhoon 700-68-1680 motor on 8s - 9s.

This is the paint scheme I like (so far).
Who knows, I may go off the reservation and do it in one of those tiger stripe paint jobs that the MiG 15, 17 & 21's have. As far as I know the 19 wasn't done up like that. ..but I like those too.

Fuse roughed in and mudded up.

Mixed up some Durhams and drywall mud and started frosting the MiG.
Had several spots where I cut too deep fitting the templates. Laid the filler a little heavy. Hope the Durhams does the job.

Julian, have you started thinking about fan placement yet? On my Mig15 build, I had it too far back and hac to add a bunch of weight in the nose... Just thought I'd throw out the comment and experience.. Its looking good so far! W
