Best AC/DC Charger for NiCad & NiMh?

I want the best charger that uses both AC and DC current. Why are the Astroflight and Supernova Chargers just DC? Are there adapters for these chargers to use AC wall sockets?

PLEASE EXPLAIN, SOMEONE ! ! !

Check out Hobby People for their AstroFlight AC/DC charger (think it's the 115D)- I love mine and it only cost about $85 plus shipping! It works great for NiMH packs also.

The AstroFlight 115D is a fine ac/dc charger - http://www.astroflight.com/115.html

I use a Sirius Charge Pro Series - http://www.siriuselectronics.com/pro_ser.htm - along with their ac/dc wallwart adapter, for home use.

Many people use their chargers in the field plugged into the cigarette lighter socket in the car or attached to a field battery. A quality AC adapter can add quite a bit of cost to a quality charger. Some have optional AC adapters, but they are a little pricey because they have to be heavy-duty if the charger is capable of charging high cell counts. There are a number of chargers available as both AC/DC. They tend to be general-use chargers that are less expensive because they are less sophisticated and don't have as many charging options as the 2 that you mention.

No charger that you should buy if you are going to stay with electric flight will support A/C input. You MUST buy a good charger (and they can be had for <$100) and then arrange for a 12V source to power it both at the field and at home. If you buy a 12V deep-cycle battery (and that's only $40 or less) to take to the field, it will still work just fine when you get it home. Otherwise, there are great 12V power supplies to be had for <$100 also.. Get something in the 20A range (hint - look in the ham radio section)..
