Pictures from a party.

I like experimenting with light, after all, light is the medium I work with.
I don't make it easy, hand held, slowish lens, to lazy to get up and move to a better position.

A friends house warming party was a chance to play.
Within my self imposed limits.
By the way, I didn't drink, I was driving.

Gate guardian, the house is an estate gate house a couple of hundred years old.

Luckily the neighbours didn't butt in

I just like this one.

What can I say.

Did I mention the dancing girls?

Nice work Punkie!

I was wondering how you manage to leave the pub long enough to see the light of day.

Wow! Can I come to the next one?

What an imagination the creator of the 'gate guardian' had. I can't stop looking at it.

Thanks, I was trying to catch the atmosphere, the pictures I took using the flash gun have a grey haze, the smoke from the fires.

The father of the girl whose party it was used to be a professional photographer.

He was very complimentary about some of the shots.
Which was nice.

Chris was busy looking after my new car, he got upset when someone dented the rear bumper 3 days after I got it so he has taken to hiding in the cup holder ready to attack if it happens again.

Fire dancing, the lad doing it lives with his girlfriend on a boat near me, he comes from a family of folk musicians & plays mandolin and guitar as well.
A talented lad and a very nice couple.

I would not call myself a master, or an expert for that matter.

I have a hobby I enjoy and others seem to like the results.

Gifted amateur maybe?

I have better ones, but, I like that one, it conveys the dark, the movement, the energy.

That is one of about ten I took from different angles, different light, still not happy with the result.

As for coming to the next one, if you are about, but I am sure there are parties the same or similar near you, its a case of knowing the right people, or organising one yourself.

Last year a friend had a party, it was to celebrate him moving his boat to a new mooring, it lasted the time it took to cruise from Isleham to Upware, two boats tied side by side coming up the river Ouse, music blasting out from speakers on the roof, us dancing on the roofs and now and then people on the banks dancing as we went by.

The difference is, you don't charge for your work. I've seen the work of "pros" that stunk, they just get paid for it. It's the attitude of wanting to do better that counts. Good job, mate!

You pictures are moving away from snapshot quality to quite good.

Excellent work.

Do you feel that your through the lens composition is getting better or are you better at picking out the good ones from the mass?
