Equivilant

I need to know an equivalent to the hacker A30-12XL that is a lot cheaper but has the same amount of power (or slightly less) and it needs to fit in the 3DHS 51" AJ Slick. (Maybe something from Hobbyking?)

Thanks

Here's how you could go about it.

They key specs for the A30-12XL are Kv of 700 and weight 177g. If you want to see what HK has similar, pick any motor, scroll down until you see the big Compare buton under the motor dimension graphic. Clicking that lets you choose rough motor size with the slider. Th A30s are 37mm, so 35-45mm is a good start.

That gets you to this page: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...sp?diameter=40

Scroll down til you find the right Kv, and a motor similar in weight. G25-710 has the right Kv and weighs 185g, or there's a G15-710 that weighs 170g.

Read up on the dimensions to see if either will fit. Done.

Match Kv and weight, then read around for reports on that motor. And research the model for power systems others are using.

Keep in mind that a much cheaper motor will tend to be less tolerant of high levels of electrical abuse, so for a given set of specs (size, weight, Kv) you won't be able to push the cheaper motor as hard as you could push the more expensive option.

Other than that, pretty much just do what Scirocco said. If you can't find anything that's an exact match, you'd do best to err on the side of heavier and/or lower Kv than the recommended Hacker.

Ok thanks! I'm probably not getting the plane anyway, but it was nice to know what I have to do if I don't want to have to pay a ton for a motor LOL ! Thanks
