rx board mod!

I have an rx receiver that has a 5 wire servo input for a servo that uses 5 wires , would anyone know how if it is possible to change the wire input to three wires so i can use a servo with three wires ?

No, but you might be able to convert your 3 wire servo to 5 wires. Just remove the control board inside the servo, and connect the 5 wires directly to the pot and motor. To find out which wire goes where, look inside an old 5 wire servo. If the servo motor drives continuously then it's wired backwards, so swap its wires over.

Another possibility is to find the PPM signal coming out of the receiver chip, and add your own decoder. However if the pulses are non-standard then you will probably need a custom programmed microcontroller to do the job.

Why bother with such a project when a receiver can be had for ~$12 and fairly reliable servo can be had for ~$5?

After reading his other posts, it looks like he wants to use a particular digital servo in a Losi Micro-T, and the 3 wire receiver required costs $20.

That's probably the best option, but as this is DIY electronics we are expected to provide a DIY solution! A simple 2 channel decoder can be built with a few standard electronic parts, costing under $10.

Here's an example circuit that uses only 4 parts. If the pulses are low level then you may need to add a transistor and resistor to amplify the signal.
