Question
Axis 1/8 scale buggy.

Neighbor just gave me a rather beat up but complete 1/8 scale Axis buggy. Can anybody fill me in on the details of this buggy? It seems to be built well and has stood up to quite a pounding. It has a TORQ 3.5 engine that turns fine and looks ok inside. I was into 1/8 scale long ago , as in a new Kyosho Burns long ago, and am looking to get this thing going again. Advice? Parts availability? ETC... Was good deal.. Got the 1/8 scale, a 1/10 scale nitro on-road car (mystery model), 4 complete radios, and a mess of parts that only cost me a walk across the street...

You cant beat that with a stick. Post some pics I bet someone here can identify them. I would look at there web site for manuals and a dealer list for parts.

Will post some pics soon. This poor Axis was bashed HARD. Looks like it was buried in sand for a year. The gear cases and important stuff were sealed up tight though, thank goodness!

That is good I had a hard time finding any website for them last night is the buggy in question a Duratrax Axis buggy? http://manuals.hobbico.com/dtx/dtxc0070-manual.pdf . If you have an air compressor blow the snot out of it I use old tooth brushes and soft wire bristle brushes. You can get them cheap at harbor freight. I use Non Chlorinated break cleaner it will say it on the can $2.50 at Walmart in the blue can. I use a little WD40 on the plastic parts less is more in my opinion. Blow them off really good too. You don't want too much residue left behind. It will attract dirt. It works well for me. I would rebuild the diffs change out the grease inside and clean the bearings out really good and give them a little shot of your favorite bearing lube. It sounds like a good project.
