Airfield 64mm F-15

I built the Airfield 64mm F-15 last night. It looks the part! Here's a few pics and several with the Freewing 64mm F-15 for comparison.

Best,
Tony

Thanks j3tman! Please don't be jealous cause I should be in therapy. This is out of control! I truly think I'm making up for all those years when I was a kid of wishing I could fly a jet. I spent most of my early years flying control-line models and Cox .049 powered two channel R/C planes.

Yes...I'll be slowing down for a while. I just bought a house this week, so my EDF jet addiction is griding to a halt during the next 6 months.....maybe!

HELP!!!!!!

Regards,
Tony

Tony,
I saw this airplane the other day on Nitroplanes. It looks awesome but they don't post very much information about it. Can you list any of the specs for us and let us know how it flies? Also, which version did you buy, RTF or ARF? Thanks

Please do a flight report soon I have been thinking of getting one of these.

Also can you point out direct differences between the Freewing and this one.

grubby-Foam quality is the same as the Freewing. This F-15 is basically a smaller version of the Freewing with removable landing. It comes with a 30 amp ESC, 64mm fan. Wingspan is 28 1/4 inches & fuselage is 38 inches. I bought the ARF version. I have had bad luck with RTF radios from Nitroplanes.

The winds have been strong here in the High Desert of California. It was gusting 25+ today! It may be calm on Sunday morning, I'll try to fly then.

Hope this helps! Have fun up, fly safe!

Thanks j3tman! I covered the aileron servo connectors with a strip of clear packing tape then painted the tape, servos, control horns, clevises & nose wheel plate with Testors Model Master Dark Ghost Gray to match the underside. This may seem ridiculous to some but for me, it really makes a big difference in improving the scale appearance, especially in the air.

I just need to finish painting the push rods and main landing gear mounts, then paint the exhaust nozzles burnt metal.

Have a great weekend!

F-15 flying with one wing missing

Has anyone flown an EDF F-15 with one wing missing? The video shows that the Eagle can do it! I'm thinking that if upgraded with one of Don's motors, it can be done! Any takers?

F-15 landing with one wing. Real story. (5 min 55 sec)

Unfortunately, no flight report from me due to the rain and constant high winds, which at times, is gusting to 35+ mph. Not good for a maiden!

Maiden

Well...the maiden was successful during calm conditions this afternoon but performance was poor. I had to fly this F-15 at 3/4 to full throttle during the 3:30 min. flight on an 11.1v 25C 1300mAh pack. It's performance was similar to a stock EDO F-15 but is a better floater during landing approaches. If you want a speed demon, I'd suggest going with the "Airframe Only" and adding Don's gear. If you want an F-15 to cruise around which looks really nice in the air, then go with the PnP or RTF.
